Is this something I can do? Looks like it is buried. Any helpful hints on this? Thanks.

It will be easiest to get at if you remove the airbox first. Also, you can do the job with regular wrenches, although it is strongly recommended that you use flare nut wrenches to loosen the fittings without damaging the line. Be sure to remove both fittings (top and bottom) before loosening the mounting bracket. If you want a set of detailed instructions, let me know. I'll get them to you ASAP.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot. Some techs recommend never changing fuel filter. Its supposed to be lifetime. But I heard dirty fuel can wreck injectors. Is that true?

It's true that garbage in your fuel can wreck the injectors, but it won't get by the filter. That's its job. If the filter gets plugged up, it will starve your engine of fuel, not allow dirt to get by. There is no bypass to the fuel filter. If you engine is running fine on the expressway, you don't have to change the fuel filter.

I just changed our fuel filter to be on the safe side anyways, it was rusted and looked really cruddy, so I figured I would do something about it.

Can't hurt anything. The better the gas you use, the longer you can go without changing the filter. I used to like to buy the gas that had inline filters on the pump handle. Gave me a sense of security...

I had a fuel filter clog up so bad in my old Mitsu Galant that it stopped the car (on the side of an LA freeway, no less) and it made the fuel pump fail.........it got expensive. I haven't used ARCO nor MOBIL gas since....period. I've used Chevron mostly since then as it has a lot of cleaners in it and I haven't had a problem. However, unless I learn something new about my 03 Camry, I intend to change the fuel filter every 30,000 miles.
