How can i prevent someone from stealing my 62?wiper 08-21-2004, 07:12 PM i am thinking about buying this 62 nova to use as my daily driver, but i am afraid that it would get stolen. how can i keep this from happening? kingalbrect79 08-24-2004, 05:59 PM My suggestion, would be to put locking hood pins on it, and a battery re-locator in the trunk in a locked aluminum race box (you have to have this) Then just hide a battery cut off switch somwhere in the car inconspicuous. I have a 71 cutlass that i am restoring and i'm going to hollow out the cigarette lighter to make it a push-switch cuttoff for the battery....no WAY anyone would think to look there...try that. ;) MagicRat 08-25-2004, 11:14 PM Some other, more simple ideas: use a cable from underneath to lock the hood down. A good bycycle or gun lock cable will do and it saves toy from having to modify the hood for the hood pins. Use a hidden switch to interrupt the ignition coil ground (negative) wire. This way, if the thieves hot wire it, it won't start. If you interrupt the positive wire, a thieves hot wire will bypass it. Remove the ignition rotor from the distributor and/or the fat coil to distributor wire when you park it, and take them with you. (My favorite) Wrap a grade 80 transport chain tightly around the steering wheel and column, with a fat padlock. This has all the visibility of The Club but is harder to defeat. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
