'00+Exhaust manifold removal made easy(er)?Erik13 08-21-2004, 12:34 AM  Some people have written in and said to move the engine to get the old exhaust manifold out but I actually removed the passenger side axle and slipped the old and new manifold in between the engine and the crossmember(H-frame). Also I left the top heat sheild in place somewhat because I could not get it out, so I removed the bottom heat sheild on the manifold, the one that gets air from the scoop and the one above the b-pipe. Then took all the bolts out of the top heat sheild on the manifold moved it around enough to get the manifold bolts and nuts(5 total) out, moved it around enough to get the top heat sheild out, then finally the manifold itself, what a pain! My car's an 04 so I also had to remove the small shock tensioner for the serpentine belt because the tube for the EGR goes between it and the motor. I also wrote about the EGR in another thread. Read if interested-titled DC header on '04 GTS Also while the axle is out and all your transmission fluid is out you might as well put a new clutch in it! Just kidding- even though I did it anyway  :newbie: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
