Alpine Type R?thunderchicken2 08-20-2004, 08:26 PM Looking through Ultimate Electronics, I can upon a pair of 12" Alpine Type R subs. THey were in a bandpass box (which I bought) and had great sound in the store, hooked up to my exact amp. Has anyone had any experience with these, or know if they are good subs? $200 a piece was expensive, so I thought I would ask around before buying. loismustdie 08-20-2004, 08:58 PM they are nice subs, but not worth 200 apiece by a long shot, son't get them for that price, my friend bought a pair of type r 10's for 160$, and taht was a good deal, but 400 for a pair, thats crazy, for that you could get 2 oz audio matriz elites, those blow the alpines away. aznxthuggie 08-22-2004, 11:59 PM the type R's are ok.. for $200 a piece its a rip off.. you should be able to get them from $100-$125 each.. and they dont sound that great in bandpass boxes.. for that get the new type S.. cost less and has a bit less quality. the type R's supposedly are made for quality.. when i called the alpine guy he said they work best in sealed enclosures.. 1cu.ft for each sub anyways good luck Navy I.C. 08-23-2004, 01:25 AM they're very good subs, they'll do what they claim as for the price, that's what it cost to own alpine Haibane 08-23-2004, 12:22 PM You can get those subs cheaper... my buddy got 2 12" Alpines over at circuit city sealed for 120 or so Navy I.C. 08-23-2004, 08:41 PM open-box (returns) factory refurbished manufacture previous year overstock discontinued models (svc - dvc and 2 - 4 ohms) these are all ways to find what you want under M.S.R.P.
