Alpine Head Unit - Shuts off and on nonstop

Alright..... before I throw this headunit in the garbage, I want to know if anyone has any solutions for this. Ok, I just started having these problems with my Alpine CDA-9813. It randomly shuts off while I'm driving and will turn back on at any given moment, and sometimes doesnt at all.... It loses all of my settings (memory), EVERYTHING. It is really pissing me off. It works about 25% of the time I try and use my stereo. I checked the wiring.... I soldered all of the wires when I installed the deck, and it worked great (installed January).... and just recently it started this non-sense... I checked my wiring, it seems fine. I do have a fuse on the stereo wiring because I used the Rockford Fosgate wiring kit from the deck to the battery (V-Drive requires direct connection to battery)..... is the fuse causing the problems maybe? well you are completly losing your power to the headunit this is why the memory is getting lost and everything. it wouldn't lose memory for any other reason. Loose connection my guess.

I have checked all of the wiring, and I have moved my power wire from the distribution block to the battery, no change. I have the ground going to a chassis ground near my e-brake. It almost seems to shut off whenever the voltage in my car rises and whatnot..... that, and it doesnt always lose the memory.... but most of the time it does....

well could be the cd player but if it is losing its memory it is losing its closed circuit to keep the memory in tact. as for when it just shuts off it could be losing its ignition wire telling it the car is "on".

there's a connection point at the power source, there's a connection point where that source wires into the unit on both the inside and outside of the frame, and then the next point is immediately inside the unit. Where exactly and what type, (ie. fuse or xfmr) is model specific. However, before you go into your unit checking for loose connects and/or broken solder, consider the warranty issues. It may be a quick fix, or a warranty voiding problem, (if you open the unit) beyond your scope of troubleshooting and repair.

Your fuse might be limiting power, but ist unlikrly because the fuse would probably blow. It sounds like to me that your voltage regulator might be srewed if the head unit resets when the votages rise. Check the volts they shouldnt peak over 15 maybe 16 volts, check your head unit voltage tolaraces. If this is the problem dont drive your car because the high voltage will cause long term problems on every part of your cars electrical system.
