94 sc accelerates on it s own.

this is my aunts car that she has had since new and she started to experince this just yester day.my mother also had the same problem in her 89 but sold it becouse of the same problem.
any help would be great.

a lil' more description. does it accelerate when it's just sitting there? or stay accelerating after you first pressed teh gas?

and either way you probably want to check out the throttle body and make sure the spring's not broken or something like that nature :P.

my moms 89 did that. had to keep brakes on hard just to do 35 through town. it was stuck at 2ooo rpm. i cant remember what sensor it was i wanna say tps but im not for sure. ill check.

It is very common on the T-bird to do that. It is usually the mass air flow sensor. Mine accelerates sporadically in the winter when idling. Go to http://tccoa.com/club/parts.html to find one. Good luck.
