I have a 94 pontiac ssei and when you turn the key to start you can hear a relay but the starter won't turn over. You can put voltage on the starter wire and the starter will start the car but when the voltage is removed the car dies. I would like to know if anyone can tell me where the starter enable relay is located and also where the starter enable relay control is located.

Correct your problem yet???

According to my 93 diagram, the starter enable relay is located behind the dash to the left of the steering column. Dash removal is required.

You can put voltage on the starter wire and the starter will start the car but when the voltage is removed the car dies

Are you saying that after you apply voltage directly to the starter and the car starts, and is running, it stalls after removing the jumper??

Replace starter/solenoid as i did, completely repaired problem. Unfortunately not a few GM electronic parts stink, they all stink. Have replaced almost all major electrical components in mine.

actually..kinda read into it more.. prbably is the ignition relay under the black cover to the rear passenger side of the engine compartment. If that thing doesnt fire, or the ignition fuse is blown the starter will not work at all

If your car has the resistor chip in the key, I'd say you have a bad ignition switch. The orange and white wires running to the vats resistor break and will cut power to the fuel pump. Common problem on all vats equipped cars.
