My car has been in storage for a few months but when I start it up and try to reverserokhill 08-17-2004, 07:44 PM Hi My car has been in storage for a few months but when I go to start the ignition and put it in reverse and/or in drive it doesn't seem to move? I give it some gas but it won't move. Also, when I go to give it some gas it's like the tires are locked and the body of the car seems to raise up as I'm giving it some gas. I checked underneath the car to see if there was something blocking the tires but there was nothing there. I did let it warm up a bit. What could be wrong with it. It's a 1996 2.2 cav base model with an automatic with 147,000 kms on it. It's been sitting in storage for 2 to 3 1/2 months. Does anyone know what the problem(s) is? Thank you, Rokhill (Chris) jason322 08-17-2004, 08:16 PM yeah your emergancy brake is engaged or you back brakes are locked. The rear end raises up if you have the e-brake on. Mangoamerican 08-17-2004, 08:17 PM dude, dont quote me on this.. well, i guess you have to cause its wrote down on the net.. but it sounds to me like your brake is sticking... did you have your handbrake on during storage? if so.. have a freind sit under your rear frame and watch the brake line to see if it moves when you move the handbrake up and down.. good luck jason322 08-17-2004, 08:23 PM I just said that. LOL J/K. You explained it much better than me. :D Mangoamerican 08-17-2004, 08:25 PM heh, i think we must have been typing at the same time man Sight N Sound 08-17-2004, 10:16 PM Yeah the breaks are stuck and just need to be broken free. If its your back drum breaks you can try pulling out hard and it will break them free if its not that bad. After a couple feet if it doesn;t break free take your back wheels off and beat the drum with some type of hammer till it breaks free. That happend to my car after I wahse dit and let it sitt for 2 weeks prior to a show and it happend to my winter beater when I left it sit for 3 months. The car broke free when I pulled out and dragged it for a couple feet. The truck on the otehr had too some serious beating with a mini sledge. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
