water leak in passenger side footwellraikko77 08-16-2004, 09:45 AM I've been having a leak problem in my car recently. I have a 1994 Z22 btw. Everytime it rains i get a leak in the passenger side footwell, I honestly do not know where it is coming from, I check the passenger side for any indication of a leak and the engine bay, if anybody has had this problem, plz help. Three_Fingers 08-16-2004, 10:54 AM 'K, You'll have to remove the cowl vent-The body piece between the windshield and the hood. Coupla screws. Then remove the black cover for the HVAC air intake on the right side. Just under that is the cowl drain for the right side. Clean out the leaves/twigs/mouse nest/etc. from under that black cover and vacuum out all the debris that collects there. There'll be a small rubber flapper at the bottom of that space-it's prolly glued shut from tree sap and whatnot. Stick something in there and free it up. What happens is the crud plugs up that drain and any rainwater that gets into the cowl, instead of getting drained down the firewall, backs up and runs into the heater air intake and onto the cabin floor. Another place to check is the little rubber elbow about halfway down the right side firewall. This is the A/C evaporator case condensate drain. Stick a small wire up into that and ream it out, too. (Carefully-the A/C evaporator core is in there.). Voila! No more wet floor. raikko77 08-16-2004, 02:43 PM thanks I really appreciate it! dirtybirdy 01-23-2005, 10:32 PM Im having the same problem but in the backseat floor of the passanger side. What could be the problem there? raikko77 01-24-2005, 01:08 PM honestly i dont know, right now it's winter so i'm not getting around to it anytime soon, also i am getting a n u car in march so i dont think i'll fix it 4dr92cavi4cyl 01-24-2005, 02:42 PM Ooh! The leak problem again?! Joy! Mine has the same prob. Pass side footwell. I installed my heater core so I know the rubber elbow hose is clear, and I took off the cowl, HVAC cover and everything is clear. I have noticed, now that I think about, it it dosn't get wet ALL the time like it did, I guess it's only when it rains a FLOOD! This is a common problem with the Second Gen Cavys, but isn't that hard to fix. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
