I'm buying a ctr shift knob from somebody, just wondering if it's real or some apc shit.

My buddy has a shift knob just like that, came in same kind of box (only said Type R on it without the Civic part) and it was a knock-off from PepBoys. He uses it on his beater because the thing heats up like crazy. But not to say that it one isn't, but I believe that the real ones aren't as polished and are all titanium (with more of a gray color to them than silver). But the Japanese writing on the box in that one pic throws me off.

Oh well I only bought it for $60 shipped and it's close enough for me.

Damn, $60? I only paid $70 from Honda for my Accord Type R one, basically the same as the CTR/ITR but with black gear positions.

They can be quite pricey on some stuff, I always drive to their shop to get stuff i get from them, but their prices, not worth it sometimes. For JDM stuff, also checkout www.jhpusa.com Their prices will usually be near I4's but sometimes they are way cheaper, I got my CTR headlights from them for $399 OTD.

About the knob... If it IS genuine Honda of Japan, it won't come in a box like that, my generic "Type-R style" push knob I have for my auto came in a similar type box, and only cost me $20, LOL! But if it's true JDM Honda, it'll come in a box with a Honda sticker, as well as a part number on it that's look-up'able at any Honda dealership in Japan. My guess is, it would come either all bubble wrapped up, or in a brown color box. I'm trying to remember how I've seen them packaged at either I4 or Super Autobacs here in So. Cali...

Well don't I feel like a horse's ass.. Glad it was only a $40 loss unlike some other horror stories I've seen though.

True that.

Not to rain on a parade or anything, but I found these...

Honda original part 5-speed aluminum knob (http://www.jhpusa.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=22_38&products_id=295)

and Honda of Japan genuine ITR/RSX 6-speed shoft knob (http://www.jhpusa.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=22_56&products_id=294)

Both are $54 from JHPUSA.com
