lookin to get an extra hp or two outa my anemic 5sfe engine. thinking of putting slightly larger exhaust piping along with a new muffler. the catch is i want something quiet and nothing flashy. i had a really nice muffler on my old crx that was really quiet but i dont think they make one for the camry.

You can try taking it to a muffler shop and seeing if they have any recommendations. You can eyeball the fit while you have the car on a lift.

Redline complete fuel system cleaner used regularly - keep it up perpetually, will do more for you than a performance muffler and will add more than a horsepower or two.
Larger diameter exhaust pipe will reduce exhaust velocity and actually hurt low end torque.
Also make sure your air filter, spark plugs and wires are in excellent condition, and that tire pressure is correct - with stock 14" tires try 30/26, F/R.

In stead of just trying to get a few hps out of your 5S, wont not save up if you have to and supercharge it, there is already out on the market that will boost you a full 112hp to bring the 5s to 227hp total from the meek 115hp.

But for exhaust I wouldnt go any bigger than 2.5 inches unless your running some major numbers there is no need to go up to 3inches

not really interested in forced induction on this car. right now it has 158000 miles. it runs perfect with no oil consumption. but im not looking to make it a beast. i only plan on having the car til mid next year. im probably not even get a new muffler but i was just pondering the idea.
