I like the idea of a NEW '04 350.

Any help in deciding what to buy now that room is needed for the '05's.

I just started looking and could use the pro's and con's.

Basic could be had for $26k even.....

Unless you want a hole in your wallet, the enthusiast model will suffice (it has HID headlights). I went with a performance model since that's what they had in stock . . . and it cost me about the same ..... $30K out the door :D (MSRP: 34.5K)

Thanks G, I am leaning toward the basic b/c it looks like now they are at $25k plus tx, tag, so about $27k out the door. What are the differences, besides the headlights?

Not much IMO . . . the enthusiast has traction control, but seems worthless to me :D If you happen to have snow where you live, the Z just plain sucks . . . unless you like drifting :) If at all possible, get the enthusiast for the HIDs. It makes the Z look sooo much better at night and if you do your bargaining well, they will probably get you the same price for it.....

Just do like I did. I emailed all the regional dealers and told them the exact specs of what I wanted and then let the price war begin. Once you get the top 3 dealers, visit their showroom (gives you more bargaining power to meet them in person), and let each know where they stand. You'll be surprised to see how each low balls the other at the end of each month!

I'm not sold on the 350, and I do get snow...BUT it sounds like a great plan to let the games begin.

Thanks, Gregg

HIDs can be had for 600 full set. Base doesn't get the LSD but it kinda sucks.

but you would think that being it is the same power being laid down by the same engine then you would think you would need the same traction.

Now be nice, but what does LSD stand for?

If I were you, base actually sounds good now, to me (after buying big... had to have everything.). The cruise control in the other models only works below 90. It might not be an issue for you, but if you like to give everyone something nice to stare at, let them know it goes fast too, and want to cruise at high speeds, the 350Z doesn't do it for cruise at high speeds. Not a big issue or anything, but to go faster than 90 in cruise isn't going to happen.

Limited Slip Differential . . . our is a viscous LSD.

Thanks. I should have known that.

I thought that the base model came with the LSD?

i still dont understand....stupid if you ask me. really, how much extra does it really cost nissan to put a freaking LSD in their base model? all models have the same amount of power therefore you would think they would need the same amount of traction therefore leading them all to have a VLSD. somethings i just dont get.

I presume the excluded it in order to bring the vehicle to market at sub 30K. Even though it has a start price under 30K, Nissan full well knows that the majority of owners will opt for the higher models.
