73 super beetle ideal project for beginer?

im 13 years old and think its about time for myself to start a project because ive bee involved with cars since i was a kid basically i know i still am. i was wondering if a 73 superbeetle that has been completely stripped but comes with tons of spare parts is a good idea for me to start out on?
i really have to find out soon quick because the owner is giving me a insane price which i simply cant refuse. please give me some info. i have no knowledge of these cars but i know a couple people that do. thanks for your help.

i ofund a 1800 motor for it will that fit in no problem ?

it will be a nice project for you... i got mine right when i turned 16 and still have it... and yea the 1800 will fit.. its more then likly has a big bore kit on it...

well i wen tot look at the car and its quite rough itll need alot of parts like a new windshield, floors, fenders, gas tank, and various other parts, the guy told me it comes with 3 engines but 1 is a 1200, 1 1300, and 1 1600, is it worth fixing ?

Is it rusty? What about the suspension. Make sure thats good. Steering boxes are expensive.

I don't think a '73 Bug is a good car to start with....first, '73 was not a good year(for almost all cars), and VW put out less than their best that year. If it is a Super Beetle...it sucks. The front end "wobbled off the showroom floor", so alot of new parts will be needed to upgrade it. I have one...so I did it and it was not fun. I have a '65 Baja, '67 Baja (I bought new in high school),'71 Super Beetle (street racer), '71 camper van, and a '74 Bug I strip for parts. The '67 is the best of them, so I think a pre-'71 Beetle is best for FNG's. No Super's, no automatics, no tricked out engines...Just a stock Bug with a stock 1600 engine. Remember, VW's are very high maintenance!!!! And if you slack off on timing, points, valve adjustments, brake adjustments and more, you'll have a damaged or blown engine. You should have a VW "nut" or someone to help you with all the little special things you should know. Good luck...

no i dont think the car is a good idea for myself, i think imgoing to get a watercooled vw to work on the beetle is just to rough. it ruined my air cooled vdub dreams.
