TPS Questionspyderturbo007 08-11-2004, 10:57 PM I purchased an OBD-II logger for my eclipse and hooked it up to my dad's 2004 Tacoma (V6) just for something to do. We took it for a few runs and logged things like airflow, TPS, load, o2 voltage, etc. The unusual thing is that everytime he had the pedal to the floor the TPS was telling the ECU that the throttle was only open 79% of the way. Anyone know if this is normal?? Thanks! Brian R. 08-11-2004, 11:25 PM See if these references gives you some information: http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h24.pdf http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h33.pdf http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h46.pdf http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h47.pdf http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h48.pdf spyderturbo007 08-13-2004, 11:42 AM There is a lot of information in there! Thanks! I scanned through it (also used the find function in Adobe) but I couldn't find what I am looking for. I was looking for something that explained if 79% is normal or if his TPS is bad. spyderturbo007 08-13-2004, 12:00 PM Talked to Toyota and they said that it was normal. Apparently when you mash the throttle on the tacoma you are only opening the throttle plate about 80% of the way. They said that was for engine safety. Bummer! Loosing 20% of the trucks power, that's no fun. Brian R. 08-15-2004, 12:22 AM I bet someone has figured out a way of changing that... Actually, you probably don't get much in changing from 80% to 100%. There is not much difference in airflow between those two settings. Don't forget, you are not talking about the difference between 80% and 100% of total airflow, just that between throttle butterfly angles. There is not much difference in airflow capacity between these two settings. superjoe83 08-15-2004, 03:46 AM i will bet that your throttle plate is opening all of the way, but the ECM relies on fuel control a lot more from the MAF signal, mine shows the same thing, i took off the intake tube and the plate is opening all of the way vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
