flylwsi 10-07-2001, 12:55 PM hartge h50 was mentioned on the second page of this thread... did you read it all? and the numbers are not allllll that amazing, we talked on this earlier ian840 10-14-2001, 02:44 PM I agree with whoever said something about being under 25 or 30 years old and getting a M3, and a M5 with family. Being 19, I would personally get european delivery on a M3, drive it to Nowack tuning and let them massage 400hp+ out of it. Then from there drive to AC Schnitzer and have them install their body mods, front lip, rims, rear wing, suspension etc. AC Schnitzer and Nowack are very close to each other too, about a 7 hour drive from BMW's factory in Munich. (Had to go to the german mapquest, hard to understand!) This of course is my dream crusade to the holy land which I plan on actually doing when my life permits. Then maybe in 15 years or so I might do the same with a M5, but ill stick to one car at a time for now. Either way, youll be very happy! ian840 10-14-2001, 02:49 PM Oh yeah and I forgot to mention that this M3 will NOT be a daily driver. It will be my garage queen that Ill hopefully have forever, take to shows, drive on perfect days etc. Ill get a X5 or 540 6 speed for the daily stuff. ian840 10-14-2001, 03:57 PM ahh yes, this is something what it will look like! gang$tarr 10-14-2001, 04:00 PM looks nice.... how much do you think it'll cost? are you going to do any work on it yourself? or just have AC and nowack do all the work? ian840 10-14-2001, 04:52 PM Not sure exactly what the costs will be, $55k for the car and probably about $10-15k in upgrades. Plus the cost of the trip... Im a studying engineer so natually Id like to do some of the work myself but because of lack of time, tools, and a place to do it, makes it very hard. Plus with a vehicle of this value Id rather leave it to the pros, but Ill be there to see them do it all at least, thats the point of the trip. gang$tarr 10-14-2001, 07:27 PM sounds sweet.... make sure to post pics when it's done ian840 10-14-2001, 07:50 PM Dont get me wrong, this is still my dream trip....Although a serious one, something I hope to do within the next 5 years or so. I still need to finish school and get to work (I already have a job when I get out of school though) And hopefully wall street turns around soon... gang$tarr 10-14-2001, 08:23 PM You're going to work on Wall St.?? I want to work on Wall St. that's my goal in life..... i need to ask you some questions: what are the easiest business jobs to be succesful in? and I like Stocks and I'd like to work on Wall St. so what type of job would i go for... also which jobs pay the most? thanks Steel 10-21-2001, 01:53 PM m3 für mich. gang$tarr 10-21-2001, 02:02 PM nobody ever answers my questions about jobs on wall st. :( crayzayjay 11-04-2001, 06:37 PM My cousin has a '93 (i think) 340bhp M5 and it goes like stink!! it handles amazingly too.... having said that, i can imagine how fast the current 400bhp model must be!! still, i'd probably take the M3 over the M5, it would be a much more entertaining and involving drive than the M5, which is heavier and has more electronic aids that are "apparent" to the driver. cheers jay gang$tarr 11-04-2001, 08:32 PM You can turn off the driver aids :D crayzayjay 11-05-2001, 07:05 PM You can turn off the driver aids d'oh! :D :D still, when you do turn them off, the M5 is said to be too much of handful in the wet, apparently the engine is just too good for the chassis... besides, an M3 is so much more delicate and race-car like, it would surprise me that a true driving enthusiast would pick the softer M5 over it. cheers jay crayzayjay 11-05-2001, 07:07 PM oh ya, the rear spoiler on that M3 posted earlier is horrendous!! jinushaun 11-08-2001, 03:10 PM Originally posted by crayzayjay oh ya, the rear spoiler on that M3 posted earlier is horrendous!! Are you talking about that AC Schnitzer spoiler ian840 put up? jinushaun 11-08-2001, 03:12 PM Originally posted by gang$tarr i really wanna try out the SMG now.... I know i'd rather get manual, but I still wanna see what all the hype is about Same here. Especially when two different magazines gives two completely opposite ratings for it. crayzayjay 11-08-2001, 05:36 PM Are you talking about that AC Schnitzer spoiler ian840 put up? That would be the one! cheers jay gang$tarr 11-08-2001, 06:09 PM yeah that wing doesn't belong on that car... looks like it should be on some ricey civic :D ian840 11-09-2001, 12:56 AM Yeah the wing is the one component I was thinking about leaving out, it is a very high quality piece however. It adds a considerable amount of downforce which would be nice at high speeds and through the twisties but I think ill pass on it and wait for a better looking wing, if one is ever made. -Ian Pr1n5e 11-14-2001, 06:50 AM I want THE M3 CONVERTIBLE!!! crayzayjay 11-14-2001, 02:37 PM I want THE M3 CONVERTIBLE!!! Why choose it over the coupé?? It's heavier and nowhere near as stiff! cheers jay EdgarFan659 11-14-2001, 02:56 PM Originally posted by crayzayjay Why choose it over the coupé?? It's heavier and nowhere near as stiff! cheers jay Yep. The coup is a little over a half second faster 0-60mph. Where's the extra weight coming from in the convertible anyway? Pr1n5e 11-14-2001, 04:52 PM Originally posted by EdgarFan659 Yep. The coup is a little over a half second faster 0-60mph. Where's the extra weight coming from in the convertible anyway? The extra w8 comes from the convertible roof mechanisms! I own a E36 coupe at the moment, but the feelin you get drivin' in a convertible is so much different! So much, that the half second difference doesn't matter 2 me! You can't describe the convertible feelin', u must feel it for yourself! It rox! :flash: gang$tarr 11-14-2001, 08:00 PM I don't like convertibles, i'd rather have a coupe..... seems lime more of a drivers car too but i saw a brand new E46 M3 convertible in the Yellow color, and let me tell you   It was parked near my house at night, it looked amazing, shined in the night :D it had the top down and the lights were on, cause the guy was standing beside it talkin to his friend. It was nice, but i'd still take the coupe crayzayjay 11-14-2001, 08:07 PM it all depends on if you want to drive or pose... sure a powerful convertible is great fun but 99% of the time the coupé is the better drive, so it comes down to how much you want the performance or if youre just after a fast cabrio you just want to cruise in... either version of the M3 represents a great car, pick one and enjoy! cheers jay GARGANTUA///M3 12-10-2001, 03:23 PM I'd take the 3. It has ample power and it just the right size. I wish someone would figure out a way to cram a 2001 M5 engine into a E36 M3:D ian840 12-10-2001, 04:26 PM They have, and Hamman put a custom BMW V12 in it too... GARGANTUA///M3 12-10-2001, 04:57 PM They have, and Hamman put a custom BMW V12 in it too... OMG!!!:eek2: Where would I find an article or picture of this???? 00accord44 12-26-2001, 11:35 AM I think I would take the M5 first. Only because I like the styling better. Especially the new taillight design BMW introduced for the 5's in 2001.:eek2: BTW I'm a honda driver, but this discussion was too intriguing for me to pass up. The M5 and M3 are my 2 favorite cars. Even though I liked the E36 styling better.:smoka: crayzayjay 12-26-2001, 06:15 PM yeah i preferred the E36 originally but E46 has really grown on me. especially on the 4 door, i think the E46 is superior to the E36. i dont like the revised rear lights on the E46 saloon but the coupé is a class act. cheers jay tigerirons 12-30-2001, 04:39 PM EXTREME POWER + PRACTICALITY = PERFECT CAR I just bought a 330i sedan and I was deciding between that the the convertible and I've been so pleased that I got the sedan. I love how easy it is to put people in the back seat with the extra doors. The convertible would've been a nightmare. Anyway, the point is- if you can get a car with tons of power and good practicality-- go for it. M5 all the way!!! Anik311 01-16-2002, 12:08 AM When I get old and have kids I get the M5!...but for now...I am gonna pimp that M3 man... the M3...just fits me better.. Sham365 01-17-2002, 10:25 AM M5 baby!!! Mach 5 all the way! Go speed go! n1m3 02-13-2002, 09:49 PM i actaully have both cars right now...a 2001 bmw m5, black with 2 tone interiot and a 2002 m3 steel grey. both those cars are amazing. like one of the guys said b4, when i wanna take out like my girl for example i take my m5. its got the looks and the power to kill those shit jap cars that pull up next to you without knowing what car you have. i take my m3 when some1 is talkin shit. that car is amazing. btw, the us version of the m3 has 333bhp, not 343. i love both. http://n1m3.iwarp.com ^^^ thats my m3 peace n1m3 border_project 02-23-2002, 12:21 AM m3. more sporty and can pick up more chicks crayzayjay 02-23-2002, 10:08 AM There must be something wrong if youre relying on your car to get you chicks :D j/k cheers, jay Focal_M3 02-28-2002, 08:43 AM Originally posted by n1m3 http://n1m3.iwarp.com ^^^ thats my m3 peace n1m3 that's a bimmer dealership WTF?? csieminski 03-01-2002, 02:20 PM As a huge fan of the 5-Series, I'd go with the M5 with hardly a second thought. Sure, I'd love to have an M3, especially over my current car, but with price as no object, I'd choose the larger size, more amenities, and more elegant styling (in my opinion) of the M5 over the aggressive, sporty M3. ///M5 Pwr 03-01-2002, 02:35 PM Very simple The way I see it is the M3 is a sports car no doubt about that and the M5 is a sedan one of the most powerful. I think its comparing apples to oranges. I asked myself a simple question: Which car do you think would be faster filled with 4 girls/buddies +driver? A:M5 Two different classes, its like comparing a ferrar to a bentle y also: You can mod a M3 into M5 standards but what happens when you mod the M5? crayzayjay 03-01-2002, 03:07 PM Which car do you think would be faster filled with 4 girls/buddies +driver? A:M5 I'm not buying a fast car for the sake of my friends catching a ride with me. M3 all the way. M5 has more power, but everyone seems to forget that this is offset by its added weight, therefore hitting acceleration and handling. It can only be an M3. If you want a fast luxo-barge go for a bentley cheers, jay marcviz2003 09-22-2003, 03:57 PM Any E55 2003 brand new is far, say FAAARRRRR.....more 4-door sedan car than M5. forest325i 10-15-2003, 04:31 PM Hands Down to the M3.. M5 is too big and heavy, stick with the 3 series Chuck55amg 08-15-2011, 03:39 PM I prefer the M5, because I like in some times to relax when driving .................. but I think that's more sporty M3 Johnnyx1257 09-02-2011, 10:30 PM I actually own and 2006 m3 it's a Realy nice car comfortable and def fun to drive. But on the other hand the m5 is faster. But for me a little to big.I say m3 michaelpotte 09-11-2011, 03:06 PM Has to be the M3. And the chicks. JStechnij 05-18-2012, 06:20 PM AT 49 years old I am to young for the M5, I have a E46 M3 and can't stop grinning at it. I imagine myself in an M5 at about age 60, by then I will appreciate the luxury of the bigger heavier car. But for now I just enjoy watching all the Japanese, Korean, American, and most Italian metal in my rear view mirror. The Ultimate Driving Machine... BMW got that right.
