Power Seat Problems! '96 Trooperwelderbob 08-11-2004, 12:53 AM My driver's side power seat is giving me a fit. The front to back switch engages the motor, but it immediately stops. The seat moves approximately 1/25 of an inch back and forth with each press of the switch. All other options for power seat work: tilt , up, down. Is there a thermal limit switch or circuit breaker inside motor? I couldn't find any external relays or circuit breakers/thermal switches underneath the seat, and the fact that the other motors are functioning leads me to beleave that it is not a power supply problem. Could the motor have just gotten weak? Is there anyone with suggestions on how to fix this thing? Anyone else have similar problem? 1996 Trooper LS **Update** I have fixed it! There was a gob of hair around the worm drive guide (inside). The fix was not that bad. I took the flex shaft loose from the motor on the left side and the transmission on the right. I applied power and the motor tugged through the hair on it's side. I then cleaned out all the hair and re-greased everything. On the transmission side, I used my cordless drill and a square bit that was the same as the end of the flex shaft I previously de-installed and used the drill to power through the debri on the right side. Lastly, I just lined up both sides using the motor and cordless drill (there were "stops" on the worm drive "nuts") Hope this helps anyone with similar problems. welderbob vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
