Import or Domestic

I have a 1996 Ford Thunderbird LX and my friend is trying to tell me that is considered an Import because he says that the parts are less then 74% American made. I told him it is domestic becasue it was essebled in Lorain, Ohio. Does anyone know if he is right??

it comes down to what parent company the car is Ford is a US company its Domestic the F body chevys all made in mexico still domestic a Subaru is made in US but still called a Import being a japaness company *part of Fuju Heavy industrys*

Honda has an assembly plant here in the US.. does that make Honda a domestic? no, it's still an import.
