I am trying to pull the motor out of my daughters 1979 240D but can’t seem to separate the automatic transmission from the motor. I removed all obvious fasteners but I can only pull the engine back about 1 inch and when I release the engine hoist it pulls back. Is there something I need to do with the torque converter? I can not find a book showing this procedure. My next step is to reattach the transmission and remove the engine and transmission together and get a better look at it on the shop floor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as she is planning on taking the car back to collage next month with a fresh motor, I hope!
