I have a '95 contour with check engine light. I read the codes, don't remember them currently, and the problem points to the EGR "system." I've had this problem remedied twice in the past @ $500/ea time. With 130k miles, I want to try and fix it myself this time. Any advice?

What was the exact code it was throwing?

i would be curious to know this as well, the problem sounds similar to my own - here has what has happened to me.

i took my 95 contour to an autozone and the guy there checked the code with his little hand held thingy - and it flashed 335 - in turn the guy told me that it was the egr transducer, so i replaced the egr transducer. $110 (at the ford dealership) and 15 minutes later i put the part on and it did not fix the problem.

so naturally i had the egr valve replaced as well - another $140 in parts and labor, driving the car home - engine bogs, check engine light comes on, same old same old - now im $250 and time in the hole. for a problem that still hasnt been fixed...

what now?

I know its been a while but did you ever find out what caused the problem for the 335
