just wondering if anyone has a list of interference engines?
or any good resource as to which cars have them?
specificly I am looking at the toyota echo engine

Is this for curiosity or maintenance?
The only time this becomes relevant is when someone has the bright idea of not changing the timing belt until it breaks.
Usually this is a bad and expensive idea. Most engines are interference. The only ones I know of that are NOT are the Ford 2.3 L 4 cyl, (the old designs dating from the early '70's to the 90's, used in Ford Mustangs, most recently) and the later Fiat (Bertone) X1/9 engines.
For Toyota, I expect it is, but call the service dept of your local Toyota dealership. They will know.
