hi, i have a 1998 escort coupe, and was wondering if there was some kind of internal devide to keep gas siphoning from happening? i just purchased a locking gas cap for my vehicle, but the model number doesnt work... if there are preventative measures, then there would be no need for the locking gas cap. (i am from a college community, and dont want to have my gas stolen)

Late model gas filler neck's were designed to help prevent gas theft, but it can still be done with a very small tubing and a lot of patience. Most gas thieve's will pass on it.
