trunk leak '92 PA

I have an annoying leak in the trunk of my '92 Park Avenue. Rainwater apparently accumulates in both of the rear brake light housings and then spills out into the trunk space. Does anyone have any idea on how to stop this, short of replacing the entire housing? I'm also wondering if the water isn't getting in through the hole for the license plate since this seems to open into the light housing. Thanks!

I had the exact same problem with my 94 PA.

The solution was to replace the two tail lamp gaskets. I haven't done it myself but it should be an easy job. All you have to do is remove the complete tail lamp assembly and then replace the two gaskets, one for each side. The gaskets cost about 10$ each.

Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a shot.

Since all the water that runs off the trunk perimeter goes behind that lamp, I sealed the top of the lamp bezel to the body with silicone. The only rust on my car was behind that lamp housing.
