04 SE-R Spec V vs. 93 Honda Del Solskydunk14 08-04-2004, 03:16 PM i just purchased a 04 spec v and my friend swears up and down that my car is a load of crap. he wants to race me. he has an exhaust (not a system but just an exhaust) a short ram intake, and headers. who would win? does anyone know figures? by how much would me and him win by? NerveAgent 08-04-2004, 04:22 PM AHHAHAHA you would would smash him don't worry. torque wins drags races, not who can rev the most. If you can drive decent you'll win. fugiot 08-04-2004, 06:18 PM Is his Del Sol the B16 VTEC model? If it is, he has a chance since your Spec is stock. You rip him off the line, but he might walk you by the end. MIGHT... Your Spec-V runs a 15.3 quarter mile stock and his Del Sol(vtec) runs a 15.8 stock. BUt his car is over 10 years old so what am I talking about....you'll win. If it's not a vtec model, you'll tear him up so bad it'll be hilarious. skydunk14 08-04-2004, 11:32 PM his del sol isn't a vtech and i know it is a 1.6. i think it is a b16 but i know for sure that it isn't a vtech. i know i will beat him too but i had to ask. if i turbo my qr25 motor, will i need to upgrade any of the internals? if i don't then will it blow the motor? fugiot 08-04-2004, 11:37 PM Well, if it's a B16, then I think it has to be vtec. But I might be wrong. Anyway, You'll destroy him even if you stall off the line. So talk all the shit you want. As for the QR...I've heard that it's hard to boost so you gotta be careful with anything higher than 6-8psi. Not sure though...I'm more of an SR20 guy. carrrnuttt 08-04-2004, 11:59 PM his del sol isn't a vtech and i know it is a 1.6. i think it is a b16 but i know for sure that it isn't a vtech. i know i will beat him too but i had to ask. if i turbo my qr25 motor, will i need to upgrade any of the internals? if i don't then will it blow the motor? Is the motor a DOHC? If not, especially without VTEC, you would murder him handily. Just so he knows, tell him that the Del Sol is HEAVIER than a Civic coupe, and is barely lighter than your Spec, due to the extra bracing a T-top needs. I am usually neck-and-neck with stock SpecV's with my classic SE-R, and I have ran a Del Sol with a JDM b16 swap with an intake and exhaust, and had him by three cars by 90MPH. This was both from a roll and a complete stop. fugiot 08-05-2004, 01:28 AM Is the motor a DOHC? If not, especially without VTEC, you would murder him handily. I run a mid-high 14 and stock Spec's don't stand a chance. Fastest car I ever beat(barely) was a 2002 5-spd Altima 3.5 SE. Don't know if it was stock but it sounded like it had an intake at the least. He had me all thru 1st and then I walked him thru 2nd and 3rd ending at about 1 and a half car lengths ahead at 90mph. carrrnuttt 08-05-2004, 09:16 PM Hey, I thought you said you ran a 15 flat? Haven't caught one in the open. Those things have an awesome take-off, and low-end grunt. I have yet to show-off my 7500rpm redline in third to them. Ah well. I know I do make them feel bad, as they are used to usually leaving most cheap sport-compacts (especially one as old as mine) behind on take-off. fugiot 08-05-2004, 10:26 PM Well, I just thought with you running a 15.0, you'd have him by the middle of 2nd. I've raced 2 Spec's and the usually get half a car on me at the launch, but I usually even it out by the end of 1st. Then they don't even have a chance after that. One I raced, though, chirped his tires shifting into 3rd! Fuck, that's some torque. nismo se-r 03 08-07-2004, 05:06 PM If you are wondering about boosting your car talk to the people at forced induction racing at fi-r.com they can awnser alot of your questions about how much you can boost saftly with no internal.. Spec-V@1320 08-11-2004, 05:35 AM There is a turbo kit still on the drawing board, but it's been dynoed. Check it out at www.jrponline.com it's under JRP Project. And since you drive a 04 Spec V, get used to civics and other types of cars with unpainted body kits picking races on you. Do what I do show them what a Spec V is capable of. Just the other day I was cruisin it with my brother and friend. Then a guy and chick(maybe his girl friend) in his civic (unpainted body kit) decides to pick a race on me(bad mistake). We get to a stop sign and he's reving his engine. We take off and I did a 1500 launch(still he was loosing)then clutch in and out in first(gets everyone by surprise) and he falls behind 3-4 cars behind going into second(no BS got two witnesses). Second gear clutch in and out the(the classic double squeel of the wheels) and he just falls behind, shift into third(yes another squeel from the tires) and start to slow down(stoplight). At the lights he didn't look over(head down in shame). And I told him "do you see what happens"(made no eye contact) Light turns green and he tries to speed off(hahahahaha) and I get next to him and yell out "SUCKA"(got that from my bro). This guy did not know how to race or didn't know what we was doing. what he was doing (most likely). Another civic added to my kill list. My bro was hungry so we go eat and we see the same civic passing by. It was a civic ex probably had I/H/E(probably cheap brand) but it was loud and annoying. Trust me if I never lost to a civic(all kinds) you should beat the crap out of them since you have an 04 which is better than my 03 Spec V. My car only has a K&N air filter, and a yellow top optima baterry(redid stock wiring)which doesn't make a significant difference. Let them pick the race on you. It's fun to disapoint them. If you loose to a stock civic you need to feshen up your skills.(HAPPY RACING) I have a quick question what do you guys launch at because I launch at 2500rpm. My friends tell me thats to low but it allways works for me. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
