91 Mr2 Nahyphie87 08-04-2004, 03:31 AM any suggestions on what kind of mods i could do to my stock MR2 na. so far i have dropped my car 2" using eibach sportline springs and replaced my wheels with a beefy 5zigen typhoon 17x8 front and 17x9 rear set. i am looking for parts to increase my cars performance rather than appearance. drazhartd 08-05-2004, 02:30 PM Well the NA just isn't a HP kind of car... however, I suggest going with the "superior handling/ autocross" route. With those eibachs, you'll want some nice aftermarket struts like KYB or Tokico. Upgrading the brakes is a good idea too, although oem ones are good. As for exhaust: Go custom. An arrangement with 2.5 in piping (no larger!) is best. Headers: Try to find the legendary HME (+15hp) OR purchase that new set that just came out (ssautochrome I think)... $250 in the group buy section of MR2OC.com. Hotshot also makes headers for the 5sfe, but I hear their quality has taken a hit... Intake: K&N is just fine. You could then spend even more money on cams and what not, but I'm telling you it's a waste of your time. If hp is your goal, get the turbo. Thus my earlier suggestion of boosting the car's handling characteristics, so you'll be King of the Corners :) hyphie87 08-06-2004, 01:33 AM hey mayng thanx a lot for the advice. i kind of had an idea that my mr2 na had a lil bit of chance in the hp range but some friends of mine mentioned that i do have an advantage weight wise. as for the exhaust, you are probably the 2nd person who mentioned about getting my exhaust custom since it is not a turbo, but do your avg autoshops do that kind of stuff (customizing exuasts)? and will it have any effect on my car because right now i am satisfied with the sound of my stock exhaust. i just thought about making it lighter and maybe tweak the sound a lil bit to make it louder....although i am not really interested in that annoying ricey sound you hear from common civics. drazhartd 08-07-2004, 03:41 PM hey mayng thanx a lot for the advice. i kind of had an idea that my mr2 na had a lil bit of chance in the hp range but some friends of mine mentioned that i do have an advantage weight wise. as for the exhaust, you are probably the 2nd person who mentioned about getting my exhaust custom since it is not a turbo, but do your avg autoshops do that kind of stuff (customizing exuasts)? and will it have any effect on my car because right now i am satisfied with the sound of my stock exhaust. i just thought about making it lighter and maybe tweak the sound a lil bit to make it louder....although i am not really interested in that annoying ricey sound you hear from common civics. Well with headers, your exhaust will be noticeably louder. Call up some local muffler shops and ask what they are willing to do. There are many routes to go with a custom exhaust setup. A friend of mine cut everything off and simple stuck a 3inch pipe aiming to the right with a muffler. It was extremely cheap and I liked the sound. Not booming, but noticeable. My ssautochrome headers are on their way... I am probably going to have a highflo cat after the headers, aiming to the left, with a small muffler, or a big resinated tip at the end. I love the baffled look (the kind on supras, where the muffler aims upwards) but I don't know how well that setup would fit with a cat in there as well. The stock exhaust is really heavy, and although it's good to have weight back there with our MR cars, a custom exhaust is the FIRST performance mod we NAs need. hyphie87 08-08-2004, 12:18 AM cool...to be curious because i am a little low on budget how much did you pay for your ssautochrome headers...and where did you find them? corydeeznutz 08-16-2004, 02:38 PM the headers can be found on mr2oc.com, i dont know how many are left there though. you can also do a search on ebay theres always a few on there hyphie87 08-19-2004, 02:58 AM oh cool thanks...i found a few up on ebay. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
