I have a 1994 f 150 with the 5.3l engine. Lately when I start it, it initially stutters as if it wants to stall for just a couple of seconds but then idles on up normally. Also when running it seems to occasionally "lag" as if it wasn't getting enough fuel, only a second or so. Also, when I put it on cruise control, it doesn't run at a smooth steady speed, but rather it has a noticeable slight speed up and slow down rhythm. Could all these problems be related and if so, what? No service codes have come on. I would appreciate any help.

It sounds like you have a vacum leak, causing a lean surge. check your vacum lines, power brake booster, pvc valve, and cruise control diaphram.
