Last opinion before I buy the car.crunchymilk55 08-01-2004, 05:09 PM It's a 1997 Mistubishi Eclipse GS-T Spyder (that's the turbo convertible model). It's a georgous car, candy red, in almost perfect condition. Power everything, black leather seats. It's beautiful. The only problem that I can see with it is that it needs a new clutch really bad. For instance, I can be in 3rd gear going about 40 and I'll stomp on the gas, then the turbo spools up, the rpm's shoot up, and the car barely accelerates, then I smell clutch real bad. I hope that it's jus tthe clutch, because the dealership will put a new one on for me. Anyway, it's about 7k, less with my trade-in. I think I will be really happy with this car. My goal is 13's, nothing more really. I can't really road race it because it's a convertible, and flipping a convertible is very very bad. Anyway, I would appreciate you guy's input because I will be purchasing it tommorrow afternoon. thanks in advance. 97Tsi 08-01-2004, 05:54 PM *cough* CRANKWALK *cough* J/K no, but the trannies on the DSM's are notoriously bad. I'm not sure that the tranny is the problem in this case, but you may want to look into that. :2cents: Mediocrity 08-01-2004, 11:49 PM Get a shepherd built tranny and you're good to go. Sounds awesome man. crunchymilk55 08-02-2004, 12:28 AM Any thoughts on the problem with the car? Again, I can floor it in 2, 3, 4, or 5th, and the car will go nowhere, but the RPM's and turbo go nuts, and I smell clutch. Thanks. 90Stangjc 08-02-2004, 12:50 AM The clutch is SHOT. Dead. Gone. Burnt out. Uh...i think you get the idea. Usually when a clutch starts slipping in 5th gear at higher rpms you know its time for a new one. But damn, 2nd gear! I think your transmission is fine for now, just get that clutch replaced quick. crunchymilk55 08-02-2004, 03:16 AM Thanks thats what I wanted to hear. I wanted to make sure it was just the clutch, cause they'll put a new one in for me. Thanks, I should be getting it tommorrow, I'll post pics tommorrow. SpaceManSpiff 08-02-2004, 02:32 PM Sweet, good luck to ya. There's an awfully nice red gs-t spyder where I live with a frank stage 3 and "415 hp". Gives you something to shoot for. crunchymilk55 08-03-2004, 06:50 PM Well Dammit, it didn't pass the inspector dealership. It failed the compression test. Is this something I should consider buying when they auction it? or just fuck it? heh Ace$nyper 08-03-2004, 08:17 PM losing comp uh ooo fuck it i say shot clutch somthing bad with motor wait till another ride you dig shows up SpaceManSpiff 08-04-2004, 04:30 PM For that price? With a shot clutch that early and a failed compression test? I wouldn't touch it, it's most likely been abused. crunchymilk55 08-04-2004, 05:59 PM Now I'm looking at a red 95 GS-T. Gerougeous condition inside and out. Really taken care of. Garaged no doubt all it's life. One owner, a 20-something woman. The guy also used to own another GS-T, and replaced his turbo for a bigger one, he will give me the other stock turbo for free. all for 6k SpaceManSpiff 08-05-2004, 02:28 PM How many miles? RACER D12 08-05-2004, 03:58 PM Why not a GSX? kman10587 08-05-2004, 04:01 PM GSX would be better, but it's more expensive, harder to find, and the tranny has issues. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
