i wanted an opinion on this, i haven't gotten the chance to race this guy so i don't know.

he's got a 92-93 prelude, base model, no mods, five speed. i've got an 01 mustang with CAI, Full Exhaust (long tube headers, h-pipe, cat-back) and a 75mm MAF sensor, auto, putting about 225 hp to the flywheel. im almost completely confident i would ream this guy, but he seems just as confident that i wouldn't. (im sure if it was a new prelude i'd get owned but it's old.) anyway wanted someone who knows anything about these cars to give their opinion.

yea i agree with most people on this. your stang is over 200 horse and if he has no mods don't worry.

i thought as much. i would've tried the race, cept i don't spend a lot of time racing people because there's not a track around and i don't want to get arrested. just curious because he was extremely confident.

well, my j30 is putting out 215 hp... don't judge that... Basically the only thing that could possibly get you is how he shifts... your an auto so you are kind of dissadantaged, because your kinda stuck to what your car decides is best. However, the hp you are putting out is alot better than that prelude, and unless your car weighs a ton... you souldn't have too much problem... if you were a GT i would definately say you'd smoke him, but the v6 kinda makes me a lil weary on it. but heck, race him anyway... don't bet nothing of course

also, just thought about this...

horsepower does not really mean as much as you think, my 88 ltd crown victoria puts out a mean 245hp but weighs like 3 trillion pounds. It's all about leverage and ratio... you put a 500hp engine in something that weighs more than a f15 fighter jet and put it up against a 1250pd 225 hp v6 car... and do the math...

base model preludes arent HP monsters.

The 92-96 base model Preludes only came with 135 hp (I think). You should kill him no problem. The only stock Preludes that would beat your car are the 92-96 VTEC and the 97+ Preludes.

225 flywheel hp with those mods you listed...... doesnt a stock v6 mustang have 215 flywheel hp off the production line?

not bashing you or mustangs but i doubt your car puts 180hp to the ground.

i think you would win even if the guy has nitrous in his car. early preludes do in fact lick balls when it comes to HP
