Just had a new 1.3 engine installed. While climbing uphill,on paved hiways, I end up driving on shoulder, as my top speed is in the 40's range. I'm new to Suzuki's, and wonder, if there is any way to increase the speed uphill.? In the desert, on dirt roads, it is great. Thanks!!

hey man, sorry to tell you this, but thats just the way that the 1.3 motor is, id say that if you do alot of highway traviling to do a 1.6 engin swap, it helps from what i hearm if im on the highway i just drive my nova, but those samurais are the bomb for dirt i've jumped mine over 3 eet off the ground, and drove the thing home

hi ppl, yea your best bet would be the 1.6 engine, i am goin to be usin a swift GTi 1.3 DOHC engine with a little work in it very soon.
dont know if you are in that part of the world where you cant find these engines but it would be even better than the 1.6.

ya sammy are all that way when going up a hill just hold it wide at 4500 rpm and maybe buy some gears for the t-case if you have some big tires on it

i had a 88 1/2 samurai i installed an aftermarket header with 2 1/2 inch exhaust. i had 31 i9nch tires and lifted 4 inches. on the highway i lost 5th gear but in 4th gear it felt like it would keep going and the tack was low. plus header added lots more power.all gears you could wind out longer

A small engine like that makes %uck all torque, they make their power with higher rpm, rev the sucker high. I drive my 1.3 all the time, got plenty of power. 47kw is VERY decent with a car that light.
