New toy for Hyde .... coming in a few weeks :DJekylandHyde 07-29-2004, 12:56 PM One of the MR2 brethern has arranged for a 8 sets of custom light-weight drag wheels made to fit the MR2 and I am number 1 on the list to get them :D .... should be about 6-7 weeks till I have them. FRONT: 15x4 (7lbs) true 3 piece wheel REAR: 15x8 (10 lbs) true 3 piece wheel Race wheels (at least the skinnies) can not be bought off-the-shelf for the MR2. No one makes one with the proper backspacing to fit over our brakes. Other MR2ers have been using longer studs and spaers, but that is not a game I want to play. I have been racing on 16X7" Enkei RSE's which are not exactly light. I've been using my 215 Falkens for the front and 255 BFG drag radials (for sale - check for sale forum). On the front rims I am going to be mounting a 165 and I just ordered 275s drag radials for the rear. I am hoping the extra power I now have added to the extra traction out back and the extra lightening of the front will result in much better ETs and maybe even popping the front wheels off the ground a hair or two  The down side is this $$$ I am spending on this is going to push back me buying EMS, cams & gears and fuel rail + larger injectors. That will end up being a winter project. We'll see what happens ... Here's some pics of the rims: Fronts: http://www.chicoraceworks.com/albums/CRWdragwheels/ShowLetter.jpg Rears: http://www.chicoraceworks.com/albums/CRWdragwheels/ShowLetter1.jpg Mediocrity 07-29-2004, 01:14 PM Not my style, but very awesome you're getting better wheels :bigthumb: JekylandHyde 07-29-2004, 01:17 PM It is more of an "old school" muscle car look ... but I like that aspect of it. ;) kittedb18bt 07-29-2004, 01:21 PM NICE! i cant wait to see what times you are gonna get with those wheels. those are light as %&*#. good luck on your new ETs 209 neon 07-29-2004, 01:31 PM it looks like the BBS rims.....nice... youngvr4 07-29-2004, 02:40 PM could you some how be put in the scc challenge? i don't know with the progress your working at, seems like i'll see you in a lot of mags here pretty soon. at least you should be JekylandHyde 07-29-2004, 02:52 PM We had an MR2 that is much farther along than mine in the SCC challenge and he had some issues when it came down to it :( ... these things happen. I am hoping for some magazine coverage soon as well. :) MR2Driver 07-29-2004, 05:24 PM Ya know, for a guy who doesnt street race, you sure are in this forum alot... carrrnuttt 07-29-2004, 05:38 PM Ya know, for a guy who doesnt street race, you sure are in this forum alot... Because we're more open to various automotive subjects in here, than in most other forums, including others in AF. :) JekylandHyde 07-30-2004, 05:52 AM Right on .... I like these guys :D nbw 07-30-2004, 06:03 AM lol, im begining to wonder where you DONT post... but those are some nice old school rims you got there. :) PunkAlex 07-30-2004, 10:19 AM uhhh wtf what the point of that post??? HA HA it has NOTHING to do with this thread! edit: btw i love the wheels!! RazorGTR 07-30-2004, 02:43 PM Nice wheels ! Brings back many memories *sigh* BTW for those who's threads I deleted, you want to trash threads like a fucknuckle do it else where! Sorry J/H not letting this thread go to shit. Back to the wheels. Very light! A hell of a lot lighter than my 22 lbs MomoGT2's! I've got a set of Panasport 17x9's in my garage with the left hand ones badly damaged when I was forced off the road. They are light at 12 lbs but I can't seem to converse with the company that can supply me two new outters due to that Japanese/English translations grrr. The less unsprung weight the better acceleration you will have that is fact. Keep us informed. JekylandHyde 07-30-2004, 03:02 PM Thanks Razor. :) duplox 07-30-2004, 10:21 PM Very nice. I love how 3 piece wheels look... I've always wanted to have the center section powercoated black, use black allenhead bolts to hold them together, and put em on a very black car. Just a polished aluminum ring will be seen... I think that'd look sweet. Black rims on a black car already looks cool, but with a touch of chrome... poity. I gotta get me some new rims(running 15x8 steel rims.. mag 500s which are so cliche muscle car, I'm sick of em. plus I need wider tires! Wouldnt mind 16"ers either.) I will probably get something similar to yours. Sorry, ran off topic as I usually do. An older MR2 like yours is on my 'cars to buy' list. For a domestic lover like myself, my list contains no domestic cars. how odd. The list stands(in order): XD falcon(aussie import... shipping will be more than the friggin car! Still only around $4k), Saab Sonnett(engine swap/awd candidate), mr2, rx7. If the aussie XD is too difficult to attain, then a sn95 cobra will do. Sorry, off topic again. Nice rims... SpaceManSpiff 07-30-2004, 11:42 PM Sexy rims. I don't care what they look like, they're LIGHT!!! I don't want to know how much they set you back. And the reason he hangs out here is cause this is the best forum on af. People here know more about specific cars than people in the specific car forums! Mediocrity 07-30-2004, 11:50 PM This is the place you're more likely to get unbiased opinions on some cars. Thourun 07-31-2004, 12:42 AM This is the place you're more likely to get unbiased opinions on some cars. This is true, and from what I have seen most of the specific forums don't have very wize followings (except the 3000GT section!). And dude, those wheels are gonna be wicked awsome, how ugly are they gonna be exactally lol? JekylandHyde 08-14-2004, 06:31 PM .... seems like i'll see you in a lot of mags here pretty soon. at least you should be Check out Turbo magazine and Modified Magazine this month ;) 2000LS1Z28 08-15-2004, 03:02 PM What is your sponsor buying you???? Nice wheels though. I plan on buying cam gears for the evo shortly. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
