if i was 40 years old and had a family...i would say g35....but seeing as how i am 21....the 350z is way better...

The G35 has the same suspension and chassis as the 350Z. Since I'm young, I would go with the 350Z Track, but if I had a family and I was older I would go with the G35. My causin just got his G35 and that car looks NICE.

Being young and everything ill say the 350z aswell... but... for some reason i love the fact that its a 2 seater. Small and compact interior kicks a$$

I actually went to buy a G35 coupe, but they said "MSRP plus 3%--no dealing." So . . . I went and picked up my Z (performance model) for about $30,500 out the door (tax, title, license). I'm 27 and a sales rep. I wanted to have a car that screamed sophistication, luxury, and style, but wound up with "hey, that's a hot car" from all the chicks :D

I vote for the G35 Coupe simply because i feel it's a better looking car than the Z, inside and out. But let's face it, you can't go wrong with either of them.

Ehh, not quite. I believe the 350Z makes more power than the G35 coupe, but to me, the Infiniti is the sexier car. Its almost like when you meet a girl, and after your dating her you meet her younger hotter sister.... :smokin:

So yea, Infiniti for me.

have you guys heard that the new 2005 G35 is going to have 298 hp while the 2005 350z is staying a 287...there goes the edge that the 350z had

350 35th rumored at 300bhp.... my opinion G35 by a good bit, its like comparing a honda to an acura. the inifiniti is a little bit more refined/luxury, better looking smoother lines. 350z very sexy but not quite as unusual and luxery, personally i would take a barely slower car that is more crusible any day.. jus cuz i like picking up girlz. G35, 1 10" W7, 19's = pimp $H!T

The 05 Manual G35C will have the 298, the Auto will still have the 280.

I picked up my G35C about a month ago and am lovin' the hell out of it! As for saying if you were older you'd get the G35, I'm young and I liked it better. [As someone else said, everyone here also has a "Z" and I'll probably be the only one in the area modifying a "G"]

I tried to get them to work with me on the price of the G35 coupe and they said "we're getting about 3% above MSRP on ours." I said "oh, ok. I'll walk less than 100yds away and get a Z for 30K out the door."

i would have to say g35...way sexier and more style i mean it is a base model skyline and all. And when the r35 turbo version comes oh lord 400hp's i cant wait....2007 see ya there....350z who??? g35 is not an old mans car at all. The sedan is for the family not the coupe. New g35 pwns 350 and its only going to get better.

At twice the price of a Z, it better own us :D

I can't justify paying 60K for 400hp, when I just dropped 10-11K (40ish total) to produce over 400whp! Sure, I would like the novelty of owning the new r35, but should I buy it, I have no money to play with :D

So the car is going to be in the 60k range. I think i would rather get a street legal R33 for that. Less chance of seeing my car and I'd have some money left over for mods.

The Z is right up there with the 911 in terms of styling. I love the Z. The G35 is more of a gentlemans Z, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Here are some nice road tests of all three:

Yes, both are good. But! 350Z is a high school type of car. As most people know, the G35C edges the 350Z in most categories.

Not to get off topic or anything, but in addition to your favorite of the two, what do you think about of a G35 Roadster? (even though i prefer coupes over drop tops).

G35 has damn near same level of performance, with looks that blow the Z out of the water. Plus a backseat. Plus Infiniti's light years ahead of Nissan service. Plus a better warranty. Did I mention how much better looking it is. If you can't tell, I'm a little biased.

I don't think its a steep jump since it has a V6, but logically speaking, I imagine the G35 Coupe to be a touch higher due to its replacement value. I'm 27 and only pay about $90 full coverage for my Z (USAA Insurance baby!).

Old poll but thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

Yeah, They are both awesome cars. Anyone ever see the the Car and Driver (or was it Motor Trend?) article where the G35 coupe actually put out a better 0-60 time than the last manual trans Z they had? From that I gather that these cars are so close in performance that simple production variances put them on equal footing.

I wanted to fall in love with the 350Z from day one, but have just never been able to get the same feeling that I get when I look at the Z32. Now don't get me wrong- the 350Z is a damn good looking car, but I just can't help but like the looks of the old one better. (I know a lot of people would disagree, though.) But then the G35 coupe hit the market. Holy crap. That is gorgeous machine. Better looking than the Z32, even. I get weak in the knees when I see one. Especially the 6 speed with the big wheels and Brembo calipers. I think the extra length for the back seat proportions the car better. And btw, that seat is pretty small. Allright for kids and short trips, but I don't think the coupe could serve in place of the sedan. From the way other posts sound, I just hate to hear that dealers are being hard assed about them. MSRP is one thing, but MSRP and 3% is way out of line. Better check around. Surely they aren't all doing that. I went to a dealer to have my old J30 serviced, and a salesman went from making small talk with me to "we'll take $2,500 off if you decide to buy the coupe" in the span of about ten minutes, but that was about a year ago. Some dealers are definately much better than others.

Hey ya'll here's my question, first I gotta go with the g35 same car, more refinement, and if your girlfriend has to bring her damned friend along you have room,...wait that's a bad thing (you haven't met her) anyway, here's the question,... can someone help me. I want to buy a g35, do I buy a 2004 or a 2005. The 2005 has more horses but less torque and at a higher rpm. The brakes aren't as good in the 2005, and with the new 19 inch wheels and suspension upgrade the handling is worse!!! Here's the numbers quoted to me buy the local dealer. 2004: 0-60 5.7sec, lateral skid pad 0.89g, braking 60-0 109ft, power to weight ratio 12.8. 2005: 0-60 5.6sec, lateral skid pad 0.86g, braking 60-0 111ft, power to weight ratio 11.8. Plus, in the 2005 you can't see those gold brembos in the wheels. What do I do. Do I travel 2000 miles from Seattle to grab one of the last 2004's out there? or do I buy a new one and live without a few minor details? I realize there are performance upgrades, and I'd love to put the stillen on there, but for that much more trouble, I'd just buy an 05' vette. So help me out,... 04' or 05?

Why do you say '04? Reasons? As it sits right now, I can order a new loaded red coupe 6speed with navi and aero for around $39K that doesn't account for me being cheep and trying to widdle them down. I also have a quote from a dealer 2000 miles away for a Red coupe 6speed with navi, aero, and 200 test driven miles for $35.6K. The shipping would still cost me around $1200-$1500 more. Is 18 extra top end horspower, 19" wheels, an extra seat adjustment, power telescoping steering wheel, and off the truck brand new worth more than 10 ft lbs of torque, and Brembo brakes? By the way,... what the hell is the new suspension package anyway? All I can confirm is the 19" wheels. The only other info I can get is that it's "tuned." Was the Brembo package "tuned?" Chime in people,... I'm indecisive :banghead:

I own a 350z so I really don't know much about the G35 but from the info that you wrote the 04 G35 is what I would go with. Brake testing was better, 0-60 is basically the same, and all this thing about upgrades...just can't trust them. They could be yapping their mouth, but until I drive both of them I wouldn't believe a word that the local dealership says. Just my thoughts. Did you drive both of them G35? 04 and 05 drive them both. One more thing...why would the Infinity dealer put 19 inch rims on the G35...Just don't get it.

The 19" rims are standard on the new 6 speed coupe, even though they are a bit tame compared to what comes form the aftermarket. I drove the '05. It just seemed like to really get it going you had to wait until it was above 3000 rpm. It was almost like turbo lag. I hate lag. As far as the upgrades to the seats and steering column. The mororized telescoping/tilting column is new. A fourth seat adjustment is new. Apparently in the automotive industry 6 way means 3 switches, and 8 way means 4. I'm pretty sure I'm going with the '04. I have to negotiate a little with the dealer from far away and have it shipped, but I think if I can get up to 4 grand off the sticker, I will have a few bucks left over to get an exhaust upgrade and a cold air kit. I don't want to do anything that is visible other than different wheels and tires someday. I wouldn't mind the supercharger down the line, but the stillen hood is so ugly. Other than that, I think I'm zeroing in. Now my biggest concern is buying a car sight unseen. :nutkick: <- I don't want that happening to me.

I have a 6spd '04 with a nismo stage 2 performance package that I had factory installed. It pushed out just under 360 ft/lbs torque on the dyno, and just over 350HP with a recorded 0-60 time of 4.2 seconds. (Not your stock G35). I spent $16,000.00 on the package, and I don't regret a single penny of it. I've blown every 350Z i've gone up against out of the water . I feel like the Z was played out from day one anyways. So if you want to spend just a little more than 60,000 dollars on a whip, Ask your local dealer about getting a Nismo performance package. (I had to get the weight reduction done seperately, but it is a significant factor in speed as well)

As the owner of an 05 G35 coupe w/the aero package, the premium package, the sport package, and everything else that costs a cool $38,900. I say the car sucks. It has serious turbo lag, it takes almost nothing to scratch the paint, Infiniti makes you wait while they service your vehicle (mercedes and bmw give you a loner.) I also got the 19" rims w/low profiles and when I'm on the freeway it feels and sounds like I'm riding a skateboard over gravel and you might as well be driving a kia if you plan on running the a/c and accelerating. I assume the same is with the 350Z (most likely worse though.) I'm trading it in for the 06 bmw 3 series coupe when it comes out in febuary. CAN'T WAIT!

<SSR>David
07-23-2005, 09:34 PM
actually no...my car doesn't do that while on the road...G35s are just worst then the 350z haha. And yea mercedes and BMW has the top customer satisfaction rating crap so yea...can't really compare a Nissan/Infinity with a Mercedes benz. Well in my opinion anyways. ^^ If I had the money I would trade my 350z in for a SL55 AMG or a Brabus modified CLK. I can only dream. ^^

Well good for you. Your car is still a Nissan and Nissan makes the Sentra. Remember your only as strong as your weakest link (Sentra) and it's INFINITI not infinity.
