I heard somewhwere that Porsche might revive the "Speedster" name in the 997 or 998 series. is this true?

I have heard no such rumours, but I hope it isn't true... I'm not a fan of droptop Porsches, they always end up a couple hundred pound overweight, aerodynamically inefficient and lacking one of the key design cues that has remained a constant with the 911, the roofline.

IMO, convertable tops go against everything that Porsche has traditionally emphasized, light weight, a rigid chassis and efficiency. Sacrificing these things for a cool breeze rushing over your head is best left to other manufacturers. Then again, that's just my opinion. :2cents:

Oh, and I make two exceptions, chiefly for the 356 Speedster and the 914, which is really a targa top.
