T-88 supra or gt90henry71069 07-26-2004, 11:32 PM hey few ideas needed, got a 1995 rz 2jz-gtte and looking at the conversion to a single turbo outfit with either a T-88 or a garret gt90 haven't heard much about the garret gt90 turbo. also any ideas about the prices on kits of these two turbos that is if kits exsits??? taylorloveviii 07-27-2004, 01:36 PM the best all around upgrade for supras is the HKS T51R upgrade kit, not cheap though, i think like $7k ? henry71069 07-28-2004, 03:47 AM so what disregard the T-88???? and wat sort of power are you looking at with this turbo kit and what is so good about it? and wat does the kit actually give you ???? thanks taylorloveviii 07-28-2004, 11:26 AM actually,. im just stuck on HKS for some reason. the t51r has less lag than the t-88, but they both have the same horsepower potential. I guess you can say thats hunk of shit for $2k more. t-88 has got some balls. go with it. use that other 2k for a nice intercooler or something. you can get the t51r kit at titanmotorsports.com for mid $5k. ya man im just stuck on hks for the name or something. henry71069 07-31-2004, 05:16 AM so all in all there arn't any T-88 kits around or are there? coz if there are then it would make life alot more easier for doing shit yourself/bringing down the issue of money taylorloveviii 07-31-2004, 11:18 AM are you kidding, of course there are T-88 kits,... i guess the most popular is Greddy. and its like $3k . for the money its the biggest turbo you can put in. now there is alos a T-88h but i dont anything about it. i think its a modified T-88 with the compressor wheel clipped or something. its probably right at the same money.. www.titanmotorsports.com - solves any supra problem JeremyBlackwell 08-04-2004, 01:52 AM it depends on what kind of T-88 you are talking about...a TRUE turbonetics T-88 has an 88mm compressor wheel, but the GReddy T-88 kit does NOT (71.5mm i believe for the greddy kit, it's a Mitsubishi turbo. the T88H is a 73mm wheel if i'm not mistaken.) If you are talking about a turbonetics 88mm or 90mm garret turbo, that would be for a drag car ONLY and would take a lot of nitrous to spool it up. MSP's supra ran a turbonetics T88 and went 8.3@169mph on drag radials in a street car with all lights, panels, glass, and a tag :) The HKS T51R is a pretty good turbo and sounds NICE, but is pretty expensive (dual ball bearing design, not rebuildable) and too laggy for a street car in most people's opinion. I'd spray a small shot of nitrous off a window switch until the turbo spools then have it shut off with that turbo. I've seen many debates about the best 'Streetable' turbo, and 80% of everyone says a 67mm turbo is the best mix. the newer supra kits with turbonetics t67 spool faster than a greddy T78 but make the same peak power and are WAY easier to rebuild/find if you were to blow the turbo. let me know if you need a turbo kit...good luck vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
