whats the average ET for a trap speed of around 10494tegRS 07-26-2004, 06:11 AM ok, first, I can see myself getting alot of shit for this, but just remember, I am not asking what will my car run with these mods that I want to do to this car that I dont actually have yet. I have the car, and I have ran the 1/4, just no computer, so I am not as bad as some of the noobs. ok, now that thats said, heres the deal: I know of this spot on a back road and from a street sign to a in memory of sign is 1/4 mile, or at leats very close. in my civic I ran 16.6, 16.8 and they were traps of 85 and through these signs my speedo said 85, im sure my speedo isnt totally accurate at 85, and the tracks system is, so there is probably a little variance. but now with my B20, shifting at 6k off of a decent launch I hit 100mph though that stretch, so shifting at 7k once it is broken in a bit more, I think Ill at least get to 104, maybe 105, 106. dont know. but my friend was running mid 15's at like 97 I think it was. so I was thinking I might be able to hit like a 15.1-2 maybefaster. I dont think Ill hit a 14 at all but it would be nice. anyways lets say 2 cars can hit 105mph through the quarter, and one doesnt rocket off the line cuz the car isnt that light and its got no torque, but then his car can rev hgih and has VTCE so it pulls nicely for a good part of the race, and the other does shoot off the line dues to a lightweight car and a big displacement(well, kinda big) engine, but doesnt rev like the other and doesnt have VTEC to really pull hard up top. which one would have the shortest ET out of both. seems like the one that pulls the hardest for most of the race would get there first, but I know a head start helps ALOT in a race so I am not sure. SiGNAL748 07-26-2004, 10:44 AM A trap speed of 104 i believe has the potential for a high 14 second run. Just my guess though. MexSiR 07-26-2004, 02:03 PM A trap speed of 104 has the potential of very very low 14s, or high 13s... No 15s! 13.7-14.1 94tegRS 07-26-2004, 05:47 PM oh, maybe revving that extra grand through each gear wont gain as much as I thought, cuz I just dont see how I have a high 13 second car, or even a low 14 second car. but Im sure gonna keep the car til I can run it and find out. since then though I have added probably 150 lbs or wood/screws/carpet and trim peices back in so now I gotta add a couple tenths to the estimate. in a few hundred more miles I will be able to rev it all the way adn then Ill see for sure what my trap will be close to, my speedo shouldnt be really far of. if it is off though, I have a bit too big of tires up front so what my speedo reads I am actually going faster anyways. 200SXGTi-R 07-26-2004, 07:56 PM at one time i ran 13.9 @ 101 with poor traction. its hard to say beacause the 60' time makes a hell of a difference. and driver and another time i ran 12.8 @ 110 so figure that its somewhere in between Ricochet 07-26-2004, 08:07 PM Mid 13's SiGNAL748 07-26-2004, 08:49 PM Wow, I was way off :icon16: civicHBsi91 07-26-2004, 09:03 PM I run low 14's at 95mph with a shitty 60' with a better 60' and more practice I could hit high 13's at around 97mph. I have run 14.7's as high as 93mph but my 60' sucked. the lowest I have run was 14.7 at 91mph 104mph would deff be low-mid 13's depending on the 60' if it was good or great. the launch "60 foot" make's or break's your run. 94tegRS 07-26-2004, 10:27 PM yeah, I only did this once at the test zone with this setup, and I could probably improcve the launch with practice but I got 215's up front with a good deal of torque for a 2200lb cra, it is hard to mess it up. I can launch it pretty low so I barely spin at all and it wont really bog down, just pulls all the way through first from almost any rpm. I am not sure when pacific raceways has test and tune, Im not even sure they are open now but they must be. I think Im gonna go there when my buddy gets back from germany. he likes going to the track about as much as I do. pikkagtr 07-27-2004, 01:51 PM yeah 104 should be down in the low 14s not anywhere near 15s civicHBsi91 07-27-2004, 02:51 PM 104 is deff 13 material... if your trappin in the 100's and your in the 14's something is wrong. ArideII 07-27-2004, 07:18 PM Time is related to traction and Speed is related to Power... in a rough around the edges sort of way. Think about an STI with its amazing traction, it pulls 103 Trap at 13.3. A Cobra with it's gobs of power runs a 13.3 at 108, put some better traction on one of those bad boys and it will have a faster ET. Same thing with an M5 13.3 at 108... or consider the EVO with 13.4 at 104. So if you don't have traction problems and you're a decent driver you are looking at 13.3 - 13.7 depending on your 60' time and traction. 94tegRS 07-29-2004, 08:29 AM I thikn I am a pretty good driver and so does eevryone I know. and thorugh this test I always get more performance out opf my car and other cars than the owners of the other cars I drive or than them in my car. I hit the sign at 4mph faster in my friends civic than he did, and that was my first try. I can shift a bit quicker I guess but its mostly none of them know how to launch their cars, they rev too much off the line and spin too long. but with my wide tires in the front and the torque, I can gret the civic going pretty good, I cant wait to go and se what kinda 60 ft's Im pulling. not saying they are gonna be greta but all this money under my hood they better be pretty good as long as I can drive and Im not just blowing smoke. one ? tho, how fats are the late 90's seville STS's. I got practically raped by one the other day, of course I shifted a bit early and the race started from middle of 3rd, so I idnt get the lightweight quick off the line advantage, and 4th gear came QUICK cuz it was on a downhill. but he got on my ass, I dropped to 3rd and gained a car instantly, but then he was back on my as instantly, then I hit 4th, couyldnt pulll so I decided to end it and was just tapping my brake lights to warn him I was about to slow and right after I did that and applied a bit of steady pressure he FLEW by me. looked stock from the outside but who knows if something was done under the hood. sure it has 300HP,295 ft/lbs, but it weighs 2 tons. I guess that 32 valve northstars just a potent little sucker.... Ricochet 07-29-2004, 02:22 PM Time is related to traction and Speed is related to Power... in a rough around the edges sort of way. He doesn't have an STI or a Cobra, he has a Civic along with the rest of us.. that's why he asked here. DkShadow 07-30-2004, 04:46 AM 13.2-13.4 w/ a 1.8-2.0 60' could be feasable But I say mid 13s. :dunno: 94tegRS 07-30-2004, 05:03 AM isnt 1.8 a damn good time for a 60' in a FWD? at leats little 4 banger FWD's? I know that 240's arent anything special, but I just raced a 91 w/ intake and exhaust and I f'ed up all 3 launches(when trying to see hear the other guy say trhree through cracked windows and watch his hands count down in the cdark its hard to get a good launch, I doubt he messed his up because he was the one saying go) but all 3 times, shifting at only 6k, I RAPED him, easily 5-6 car lengths on my worst run, puled even further on my better of the 3. but then I get whooped by a STS frokm a roll in 3rd so I am confused. I didnt think they were that fast but he was on my ass, I drop it and floor it, and then he gets right back on my ass, I wasnt pulling from him AT ALL, so i just tapped my brake lights to warn him I wasa about to stoip and as I am slowing down he FLIES by me. oh and yes the 240 was a 5 speed and the kid can drive ok, not GOOD, but he doesnt suck at driving either. YellowITR479 07-30-2004, 06:07 PM 104 mph on street tires is definately an mid 13-second run 200SXGTi-R 07-30-2004, 10:43 PM i say...13.47 94tegRS 07-31-2004, 05:59 AM alright, thats it, cars going to the track son, I just wanna finds some other kids that wanna take their cars down there as well, anyone here going to pacific raceways anytime soon? ArideII 08-03-2004, 06:21 PM He doesn't have an STI or a Cobra, he has a Civic along with the rest of us.. that's why he asked here. You don't say... I would have never figured that one out. Those cars are used as an analogy to show him that an accurate estimate of his ET is very dependent upon how good of traction he has. 94tegRS 08-03-2004, 11:27 PM isnt the 60 foot time of 1.8 hard to get in a FWD car on street tires that doesnt really have alot of power. DkShadow 08-04-2004, 05:19 AM isnt the 60 foot time of 1.8 hard to get in a FWD car on street tires that doesnt really have alot of power. Thats why you put on some DRs or slicks!! DUMMY! 94tegRS 08-04-2004, 07:15 PM well, Im gonna run on street tires, but someone said if I can get a nice 1.8 60 foot then I might hit a 13.4 or.. I dont tremember how they exactly worded it, but I hadnt said anything about mew putting on slicks before this guy said it so I was assuming he meant 1.8 on street tires, so I just asked isnt that a GOOD time. DkShadow 08-05-2004, 05:22 AM well, Im gonna run on street tires, but someone said if I can get a nice 1.8 60 foot then I might hit a 13.4 or.. I dont tremember how they exactly worded it, but I hadnt said anything about mew putting on slicks before this guy said it so I was assuming he meant 1.8 on street tires, so I just asked isnt that a GOOD time. And that would be me sir... again. As you can tell... i do not own a fwd car... nor would I... but why not slap a set of DRs on your car? They really arent that bad. :) 94tegRS 08-05-2004, 05:25 AM for the pure fact that they are not free. XixGenuinexiX 08-06-2004, 03:57 PM i doubt you run anywhere near a 13 w/ a b20 engine with high compression.. But w/ those traps speeds you'll be in the 13's for sure unless you suck at driving. 94tegRS 08-06-2004, 07:45 PM you doubt i run anywhere near a 13 with this engine but if i can drive ill be in the 13's for sure? is that exactly how you meant to word it? XixGenuinexiX 08-06-2004, 11:32 PM Hmm, having trouble reading? I said i doubt you'd be anywhere near 13's w/ a b20 w/ high compression (end thought).. But w/ those trap speeds you should be in the 13's no problem unless you suck at driving. Basically i doubt your trap speeds are anywhere near 104 at the end of a 1/4 mile track. 94tegRS 08-06-2004, 11:40 PM no i dont have trouble reading, you said you doubt i run anywhere near a 13 with a b20 with a high cr. then you said but with those trap speeds youll be in the 13's for sure... "youll be in the 13's for sure" you never said anythign about doubting Im hitting 104 through the quarter, I get it now though, but if it was worder a bit differetn I would have gotten it the first time, nt trying to argue just wantd bto be sure I was getting that right. XixGenuinexiX 08-07-2004, 12:40 AM So, have you gotten your car dynotuned? If so what type of numbers are you putting down? 94tegRS 08-07-2004, 01:54 AM no I havent, Im sure it isnt running to its potential at all though, its just running off of a stock OBD1 P75. I am not gonna keep it long enough to want to spend the moeny on hondata/dyno time though. I still miss my first 3rd gen teg I had, Im gonna build a replica when i sell this hatch and my truck and all my car parts. I domnt wanna start anythijng else til I wrap up the last of whats going on. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
