1995 cotour tranny prob.arkbar 07-24-2004, 06:29 PM I have a 95 contour with some transmission probs. When I put the car in reverse it will not engage right away. If I add a little engine rev. it will clunk into gear. Any ideas what's up, is this normal? I only have 48,000. on the car. beyondloadedSE 07-24-2004, 10:09 PM mtx or atx? arkbar 07-24-2004, 11:00 PM atx, mtx? it's an automatic, sorry I don't know the spec on the trans. beyondloadedSE 07-24-2004, 11:11 PM atx, mtx? it's an automatic, sorry I don't know the spec on the trans. atx = automatic transaxle mtx = manual transaxle and yet once again, contour.org to the rescue. See if this helps.Click me (http://www.contour.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=tranny&Number=271940&Forum=tranny&Words=reverse&Match=Entire%20Phrase&Searchpage=0&Limit=300&Old=allposts&Main=271940&Search=true#Post271940) arkbar 07-24-2004, 11:27 PM Thanks, I appreciate the quick reply. The post kind of helped, just wondering how much money I want to put into this car. is this a common problem, and are these problem cars? Seems like a lot of issues with them? beyondloadedSE 07-25-2004, 06:30 AM ya know, im not too familar with the cd4e automatic transmission used by the contour mainly because, I have the mtx-75 5 speed transmission. The contour is certainly not a problem car IMO. About the only thing that needs to be upgraded is the waterpump on the 2.5L duratec and possibly the differential in the 5 speed tranny. Other than that, its a sound car. Your best bet may be to go over on contour.org and run a quick search in the transaxle forum and see if you cant find anything more about your problem. I just spent 5 seconds searching and thats what i came up with. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
