91 trooper transmission mistery...soudorio 07-24-2004, 11:59 AM Well, hi again good people! A while ago I posted a thread re my Trooper's tranny. Had it completely rebuilt, replaced control module, replaced wiring (control module), replaced temperature sensor, installed a heavy duty transmission cooler, but it is still acting up. Maximum I was able to drive was two days without "check transmission" ligth coming on and being thrown into limp mode. Usually it clears after it cools down, drives well for a bit then it comes back again. It seems (almost) clear to me that it is temperature related, but what gives??? The engine runs cool, as mentioned before transmission temperature sensor was replaced, tranny cooler installed, etc. All the work was done by a reputable local transmission shop, and the technician is as stumped as I am with this "mistery". Please help!! Anybody?... textroop 07-27-2004, 04:59 PM HI, I have kida have the sme problem with my 91 Trooper, The check transmission light keeps coming on usually when I come to a stop or slow down, it then goes limp. The light will keep flashing till I turn off the engine and turn it back on again. If you find out anything please let me know. trooperguy 08-04-2004, 06:32 PM these are automatic transmissions i am assuming right? soudorio 08-05-2004, 11:49 PM Your assumption is correct, (4H30 or 4L30 or something like that...) it seems BMW's use the same tranny. Update: The solenoids were replaced, it has worked OK for a few days (cross my fingers...) I hope this did the trick! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
