There are alternative fuels and then there are really alternative fuels. An Australian television personality has driven a collection of unique vehicles across the US without stopping at a gas station. One stretch of the trip featured a food-powered Hummer limo. “We fed the Hummer beignets in New Orleans, then crawfish, Pop Tarts, and leftover Cajun food. We added soybean oil to power us all the way across Louisiana to Texas.” The Hummer was equipped with a ‘gasifier’ that vaporized the food to provide fuel for the engine.
