Please, any suggestions are welcome.. I have a 2001 Sentra that has started making a whining noise. It gets louder as it accelerates or so my husband says. I don't think it does. he is leading towards it being the power steering pump (no change in noise when turning). Any suggestions before we take it to the dealer. The car is still under warranty but has 98,000 miles on it. Do you know if it will be covered by warranty? Thanks for any and all suggestions!

sounds like a wheel bearing more so than the engine.. but id have to be there to diagnose that..

if you were to rev the engine.. would the noise also be there?

either way if you dont know what your doing your likely in for a dealer visit.

Yes the noise gets louder the more you rev it. Someone told me it might be a belt? I am trying to narrow down the options. Thanks for replying

Belts and pulleys can make some awful noises. Make sure they arent your problem.

I think that is the route to go. Get them replaced they are worn and need it anyways. Then go from there. Praying to the car gods that is what it is. Thank you for your reply.

To follow up on this.. it was the alternator. Since we had the extended warranty it ran us $50.00. Not bad considering the part is over 300 dollars.
