Issues with my 2002 Accord Coupebrianw005 01-30-2002, 10:43 PM I just bought a 2002 Accord Coupe EX-V6. Although it is a sweet car, it has a few issues that I have discovered. I don't know why Honda did not illuminate the steering wheel controls and door panel controls. This seems ridiculous to me. Along with this, the door panels make annoying rattiling and vibration noises when I am driving. But the worst one is the fact that the radio reception sucks. Since the antenna is built into the rear window, it hardly picks up stations with weak signals. This is so annoying to me. If anybody else can relate to these issues, please let me know. 2001G20 02-04-2002, 10:37 AM I agree about the door panels. I have a 2000 Accord Sedan and I'm surprise that they haven't changed that yet. About the door panels rattling you should go get that checked out cuz I dont experience that with my car. The reception is okay...you can fix this by getting a new head unit and they have internal antennas for those and they get a lot better reception. That should solve everything. :D brianw005 02-05-2002, 11:08 PM I don't want to make it sound like a crappy car, it is an awesome vehicle. I am just a perfectionist with everything, especially my rides. Thanks for the reply.:p nittanys1 02-07-2002, 02:11 PM I have the same problem with the doors rattling, it doesnt do it when I'm driving, but when i come to a stop at the light or something they have a mild rattle, and when i push up against it it stops, it might be because I had speakers installed, have you? EaCcOrdV6VTEC3rX 02-08-2002, 02:43 AM i dont know about the rattling my receptions are good even though place i live is high and usualy dont have good receptions with cell phone n radios problems i think it has- my speaker made some wierd noises oneday but stopped cd changers kind of annoying cuz it takes forever to load sunroof doesnt open all the way i think the tires suck i think thats all car seems a bit high Maximadave 02-08-2002, 06:32 PM Take your car to the Honda dealer. They will fix the problem under warranty at no cost to you. If you installed aftermarket speakers in your door try Dynamatting (sound deadning mat) the door to get rid of the problem. couper 02-10-2002, 10:46 AM For poor radio receptions, try the same radio station with a different car park next to yours. Then decide if it's really an antenna issue with your coupe. For the rattling noise, I believe the dealer should fix that for free. My buddy once brought his Accord to the dealer because of the rattling noise on this window. They fixed it. Note: if one dealer refuses, bring it to another. They both differ. My friend did, and the second dealer fixed it --free of charge (under warranty). goodlucks. ..and you know the rest of the story...couper. brianw005 02-10-2002, 10:29 PM Thanks for the info. I'm taking it to another dealer this week and having them look at it.:flash: ChelesV6Accord 03-04-2002, 11:00 PM I also have a 2002 v6 coupe---but have never experienced the door panels rattling or poor reception.......but i do think it would be nice if they would illuminate all the controls....:D peetie 03-05-2002, 03:15 PM I have recently acquired the V6 coupe, and your right about the steering wheel controls and the window controls not being illuminated. What I do not understand is the fact that the sunroof does not open all the way!! If you put a visor on the front of it your down to about 4 inches. And if you even breath towards the cup holder cover, it pops open! brianw005 03-05-2002, 05:42 PM What you said is soooo true! That damn cupholder cover opens when a piece of dust hits it. And with the sunroof, the fact that it doesn't open all the way is the reason why I did not get the visor. I didn't want to lose anymore open space.:frog: YogsVR4 03-13-2002, 05:28 PM The sedan must have used different parts becuase I dont have any issues with the sunroof, door rattling or cup holder cover. I do wish the controls were alluminated, but it didnt take long to identiy where everything is by just touch. EaCcOrdV6VTEC3rX 03-14-2002, 02:43 AM omg i m hearing that rattling noise everytime the car shakes alot how can i fix this? whats causing this i didng hear this wen i posted the previous post nittanys1 03-15-2002, 09:01 AM ive got a sedan and have the same problems, I just got a bulk pack of dyanamat and did all the doors and the back shelf along witht the trunk and its pretty quite in the cabin when im going 90 on the highway brianw005 03-25-2002, 08:14 PM I've fixed the problems with my 2002 Accord Coupe. The dealer took care of the rattling in the door and the squeaking seat. However, I just had two OBX B-3 mufflers put on and the they rattle the hell out of the inside of the car. I Dynamated the entire trunk, but none of the muffler noise was absorbed. I guess that is what happens when you put two very loud mufflers on this car. VTECseoul 04-24-2002, 06:10 AM my friend is a Honda salesman, he says the material from a 2K+ Accord is stronger & more durable than 98-99...they heard this was happening right away on the 98s so by 2K it was fixed, unless it is a carryover car. dynamat can do wonders if you put it on right. BluStori 05-05-2002, 05:57 PM Try going to the dealer and complain about that fault u have in ur car~ I would complain until i gain something~ Murco 07-15-2002, 11:43 PM Originally posted by brianw005 I've fixed the problems with my 2002 Accord Coupe. Is it "ricey" or more like a 300ZX? I want to relieve the back-pressure on my new EX but I DO NOT want it obnoxious or loud. Surprise everyone with speed, not noise! ;) Metallicad 05-21-2003, 11:09 PM Hello all.. My accord (02 EX-V6 Coupe) has the door rattle as well.. it sounds like plastic flexing or little plastic wire covers tapping against the metal.. I took it to the dealer, they said they installed "Honda Factory cushioning tape" to the inside of the door and that the problem is that there is some metal bar that goes across the door for support that flexes.. I think they fed me a line of BS as the doors still rattle.. other issues.. had a case where when I took the key out of the ignition, the ignition switch still thought the key was in.. so i had to press on the key hole and it would "click" to reset itself.. this got annoying as sometimes, when i wouldnt reset it, the car would not arm as it thought the key was still in the ignition.. and other such problems.. So the dealer replaced the ignition switch.. giving me a new key to the ignition.. so now, i have a different key for the doors as I do for the ignition.. also, the valet key doesnt work any longer.. what to do?? another problem that the dealer resolved, but poorly is that my SRS light would stay on.. eventually causing the check engine light to come on.. they woudl check the code, and it would say sensor malfunction.. then reset it.. then it would all happen again in a day or so.. -mcd vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
