Hey. My 86 Accord has lost 5th gear and just grinds when I put it in. I know about the end case cover and just 5th being exposed.I saw somewhere else that there may be a leak somewhere and that 5th is the last getting oil and the first thing to burn out. Just wondering if anyone knows how to make the repairs myself and check the leaks and all. Thanks!

It probably has melted 5th all together. When you pull the side cover you will see this. Maybe, if real lucky, just a roll pin broke.

Just remember, when you see them shredded gears that its really best to split the tranny in half and clean it all out. Or the metal floating around could do harm later.
