1999 Passat V6 -slight miss when idling.watsont2 07-20-2004, 07:49 PM My car has 87,000 miles and I am the only owner. Recently I noticed my car having a slight miss or flutter while at traffic lights, like it could die. This went on occuring about once a day. I did not notice the problem at all while excelerating. I took it to a VW dealership 2 weeks ago because it also became hard to start. On the 4th day they thought the injectors could be clogged, ran through cleaner, charged me for recycling and labor totalling $490.00! I drove it off the lot and came right back because the issue has escalated. The problem occured 7 times before I returned (a couple of blocks). They said the injector cleaner was working to remove the snot and it would work its way through and be OK. I said they could keep it until it was fixed. Two weeks later... Net result..... car not fixed. I am awaiting a discussion with someone on their staff tomorrow to see what is going on. Has any one else out there had a similar problem. HELP! watsont2 07-21-2004, 09:24 PM 7/21/04 Update: Today it was determined by the dealership that the injectors and fuel rail need replaced because of rust! The fuel tank was clean. How does that rust when gasoline is oil based? Just can't understand how that would be if the tank was clean. It will be 1375.00 total to repair. Sounds like a defect of material to me. They said they had never had that happen before. This car should not have had this happen. If anyone has ever heard of such a thing let me know. I appreciate it. boschmann 07-24-2004, 08:17 PM Water in fuel is fairly common, some gas stations are well known for having this problem. I'd like to know if this really is the problem as I've only seen this once & only on a car that sat for about 6 months with the water in the system. If the car is being driven it will usually get pushed through fairly quickly & not cause severe rusting type issues. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
