I have a 85 crx with a simular FI system,
when you click the key to the on position just before you start the car is when the fuel pump relay kicks on for a second to prime the system,
the PGM-FI light will be on when this occurs also you should hear the pump humming , If it doesn`t hum it`s not on, meaning a bad relay or bad connection, is your pump humming when the light is on ?
is the light always comming on?

Hi, i have an 89 lxi and just had the same problem you are haveing. We thought it was not getting a proper ground so i replaced the battery ground cable and the other ground cable that comes off the valve cover and neither fixed the problem. We then determined that it was either the fuel pump or its relay, but testing for which one was looking rather impossible. So, for the first time ever i took my car to the dealer and the put in a new fuel pump relay for me and i haven't had a problem since. It'll cost you about $50 US for the relay and you can have fun putting it in, but i betcha anything, you wont have the same problems later on if you get it fixed now.

go to www.3geez.com... we have a large gathering of people that own 86-89 honda accords, and with that comes a wealth of knowledge...

a bad ground could be to blame... or the relay or the pump, or even the starter or injectors...
