97 accord audio questionshighteknology 07-19-2004, 11:23 AM I just bought a 97 accord lx coupe. i'm movin my alpine head unit and infinit subs to it from my old car to this one. i had some 5 1/4 speakers in my old car (88 legend ls) and they were powered by the bose system. looking at speakers for my accord it says the fronts are 6 1/2 and the rear are 6 x 9. is this correct? secondly, should i go with infinity to match the subz, i've heard that the same brand can help produce a nice sound, but i don't know in the case with subs? thirdly, should i get a second amp to power the speakers? i've also heard that replacing the speakers is difficult. in my legend i just took out about 4 screws for each speaker and put the new ones in. how hard is it to replace them in the accord? if i do this would i need a bigger one for the subz? any suggestions on what to do, brands, type, etc. is all appreciated. mjshort18 07-20-2004, 02:26 PM 1. i am pretty sure that is the size of your speakers but you can check on crutchfield.com to be sure 2. you don't need to stay with the same brand but infinity does make some awesome speakers such as the kappas 3. if you get a second amp to power the speakers then it will definately sound better not sure how hard it is to replace the speakers in your car. veilsidercng 07-25-2004, 05:35 PM im going with him^ but if you power the speakers (midranges) you better make sure they can handle bass b/c most amps put out more bass than anything and it will sound distorted(when buying the amp you can ask if it puts out alot of bass) and taking out the speakers shouldn't be to hard but i don't know, just guessing mjshort18 07-25-2004, 10:14 PM im going with him^ but if you power the speakers (midranges) you better make sure they can handle bass b/c most amps put out more bass than anything and it will sound distorted(when buying the amp you can ask if it puts out alot of bass) and taking out the speakers shouldn't be to hard but i don't know, just guessing amps do not put out bass they just increase the power given to the speakers. the speakers determine if there will be more or less bass depending on which you get. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
