Keyless Remote after battery change still not quite right

I replaced the battery inside the keyless remote for my '98 Toyota Camry LE but I no longer have the Piezo "chirp" and it takes 3 button pushes alternating to lock the doors. After reading most of the related threads I'm confused as to what system I have.

Dealer Installed? The remote is square with the word "Atlas" on it and 2 arrow shaped buttons side by side. There is a dash board LED red light (that use to blink but doesn't now) to the left of the steering wheel and a tiny red button with a toggle switch next to it down on the left side of the foot well. (Is it related?)

I would just like it to work again with just one button push and get the chirp back. I can still set off the alarm with pushing too many buttons. Do I need to reprogram it just because I changed the battery? And if so, I'd appreciate some help on how. Thanks...

Replacing the battery does not require reprogramming the remote. The "Atlas" system you describe sounds like an aftermarket unit.

Yep, most definitely aftermarket..."dealer-installed" systems are referred to as TVIP systems. (Toyota Vehicle Intrusion Protection)

Thanks for the I.D. on the system. I guess I'll need to get it checked out by them then. Is there an alternative?
