Tacoma Tireswrigley123 07-16-2004, 10:47 AM Is there and certain brand (manufacturer) of tire that is giving people problems on their Tacoma? Any tire I should avoid?.......Any tire that you recommend? Thanks MIke Brian R. 07-16-2004, 11:40 AM Michelins are recommended by many people. Vroom2 07-16-2004, 02:59 PM There are many great brands out there. I recommend talking with a couple of local tire shops - inventory and warranty support are two issues I look for when buying tires. If a shop doesn't carry a certain tire in stock that's ok as long as they can get it quickly if needed. Michelin tires are great. So are BFG, Yokohama, Toyo, Bridgestone, Goodyear, etc. It really depends on your priorities...tread life, wet traction, load rating, etc. Good luck! Take care, Jerry Brian R. 07-17-2004, 11:35 PM Not to mention cost. truckerboy00 07-18-2004, 01:44 AM I just put on a set of Michelin LTX M/S. NTB had a $50 instant rebate and Michelin has a $50 rebate plus it's way cheaper than Discount Tire. Strangely, no one seems to make a 265/75r15 tire like my OEMs so I went with a 31. Shredhead 07-19-2004, 09:10 PM I have the michellin LTX M/S 265/70r16 very quite on the road (reletive to other tires) and outstanding in the sand have not had to much trouble with digging in knock on wood. wrigley123 07-20-2004, 01:17 PM I went ahead and put on BF Goodrich Radial Long Trail T/A's. This tire was recommended highly by the big majority of people that purchased them. The overall concensus was the tire was very good, and the price was very reasonable. Mike Shredhead 07-20-2004, 03:45 PM That's probably fine for a Tacoma, Michellin can be expensive. I don't think that Toyota has had problems with the major tire manufacturers. The only company I can think of is FORD. when I worked at discount tire there were certain tires we would recomend Ford truck owners with I-beam suspension not to buy, one of them was the pathfinder tire (not sure if they even make them any more) the I-beam suspension doesn't work like a-arms and would tear certain tire's up fast, and of course the Ford SUV blowout with Bridgestone/Firestone. TGates81 08-08-2004, 11:43 PM dont get goodyear. I used to work there and 80% of there tire came back with broken belts - complete horsehit. heavydc2 08-09-2004, 11:16 PM I just went from the goodyear workhorse to the Yokohama Geolander MT and I have to say for a very aggresive tire, they are pretty quite on the highway. They are a softer rubber so that they will wear quickly, but I really like how they look. tempestdude 08-16-2004, 03:14 PM Mike, Although it comes down to a personal choice, I had good luck with the Goodyear Wrangler RT/S 31-10.50s that came stock on my 95 Tacoma 4x4. I was able to get 100,000 out of the original set by rotating them every 5000 miles. I bought a second set and they have 63,000 miles on them, but they are not wearing as well as the original set. I just bought a new double cab and it has the BFG Long Trails on it. So far, I am impressed with them. Kevin lifetrddeath 08-18-2004, 10:09 PM I've never heard of any complaints on tires specifically for the Tacoma, but I recommend Mickey Thompson tires. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
