Project 911GT2circuitR 07-12-2004, 08:01 PM Hello everyone, This is my next car that I am building for a very good friend of mine.(who is also my boss) Basically it's gonna be a weekend racer. Road legal too. It will also be covered in company logos and colours. So far I have smoothed the flares, (not a big fan of bolt ons) painted the underside, added oil lines to the turbos, kevlared the intake pipes and painted and assembled the suspension and brakes. I've cut off the exaust pipes because the original come to a taper at the end and I did'nt like that, so I am gonna make my own pipes out of alloy. Enjoy and thanks for looking. Looks great, nice work on the intakes tonioseven 07-12-2004, 08:07 PM Looks like we're in for another treat from you!! :sunglasse:sunglasse Cychalen 07-12-2004, 08:31 PM The underside looks very good. :sunglasse bilinvic 07-13-2004, 01:16 AM Very nice so far...I assume this will be a fictitious Porsche eh? What will the main livery be? circuitR 07-13-2004, 01:36 AM Very nice so far...I assume this will be a fictitious Porsche eh? What will the main livery be? Yeah it's not a replica of any car. I'm not into copying other cars. I know that making a replica of some race/tuner cars is very skillful, but I would rather create my own cars as if these were rolling out of my workshop. It also gives me great satisfaction seeing you guys enjoying my cars on here, I also enjoy seeing all the cars on here as there is some amazing talent. Also this site is great for inspriation too. As for the main livery????? engine? signage? colours? I'm confused. :screwy: godfather23 07-13-2004, 04:56 AM That looks sweet, especially the engine work, goofd luck and keep us posted. Will the car be as you show it on the right side of your signature?? deedlit 07-13-2004, 06:07 AM Woww, what a great project  I like it a lot :) It's the perfect exemple that with details and good weathering effects, a curbside can look realistic. I assume you used washes and drybrushes on the engine, but what did you use? I'm waiting impatiently for updates. Spitfire7 07-13-2004, 06:10 AM Great detail. Bas Carwash 07-13-2004, 12:04 PM Awesome work so far :bigthumb: dread_darven 07-13-2004, 12:44 PM Nice, very nice. Amazing detailing :) circuitR 07-13-2004, 03:37 PM Woww, what a great project  I like it a lot :) It's the perfect exemple that with details and good weathering effects, a curbside can look realistic. I assume you used washes and drybrushes on the engine, but what did you use? I'm waiting impatiently for updates.  Thanks Deedlit Basically I sprayed the udercarrige in matt black then I hand painted the engine in flat alloy. The extractors were firstly hand painted in titainium silver and left to dry for a couple of days (enamels in winter :uhoh:) then I dry brushed titainium gold on top, the exaust housings are gun metal and the turbine housings are chrome silver. And yes Godfather the car will look like my photoshop design in my signature if all goes well. Thanks for all looking I will have updates tomorrow as I have got a busy day today. circuitR 07-14-2004, 05:53 PM Ok a bit of an update. Finally got the seatbelts done on the seat. Man! that tested my patience. I have also c/f the battery box and the rear parcel shelf and bare metal foiled the intercooler. (I love that stuff) http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P5.jpg http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P6.jpg I also have a question for anyone wants to help me. I thought I would try and be clever and added some testors clear glue over the top of the dash decals, to make them look like they where behind a glass/plastic lens. Well unlike the glue said, it dried cloudy. Could anyone recomend any remedies????? http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/Dash.jpg SchuberT 07-14-2004, 06:19 PM how long has the glue been drying? maybe since you put more than just a sprayingly amount, it hasnt completely dried? circuitR 07-14-2004, 06:21 PM how long has the glue been drying? maybe since you put more than just a sprayingly amount, it hasnt completely dried? It's been drying for about a day. I had'nt thought about it not being fully cured. thanks Shuber, I hope that's it. :icon16: Inservible 07-14-2004, 07:02 PM Awesome!! Where did you buy the seat belt ribon? :eek7: circuitR 07-14-2004, 08:04 PM Awesome!! Where did you buy the seat belt ribon? :eek7: It comes with the scale motorsport photoetched seatbelt kit. Really expensive and really fiddely! The ribbon comes in white so you can colour whatever you want with a permanent marker. I recomend them, but only if you have got heaps of patience as they are a lot of work, but are very rewarding as you can see. Hopefully I will be able to paint the rollcage today, so long as it stays fine. ol' dude 07-14-2004, 08:50 PM The Porsche is looking great, keep us posted on the progress!!!! circuitR 07-29-2004, 04:58 PM Sorry it's been awhile, I was outta town on buisness. Then I got sick with the flu. But there has been some progress. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P9.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P7.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P8.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P10.jpg RotaryX82003 07-29-2004, 05:08 PM great job on the whole car. what kind of putty is that.seems to work real good. tetsuyagarage 07-29-2004, 05:47 PM that roll cage is hot primesuspect407 07-29-2004, 06:34 PM its lookin really good bvia 07-29-2004, 09:38 PM Nice job so far, but... Your battery (that box on the passenger floor) is CF, and it can't be as CF conducts electricity. Even the box the battery sits in shouldn't be CF or kevlar. Also, do you have the adjustment buckles for the seat belt shoulders on backwards? It appears you have it set up where the hardware would be pressed against the driver's body when you tightened it. Of course its ficticious and in modeling, anything goes!!!! So you may just want to disregard all that I've said :icon16: Bill (NOT Bil) circuitR 07-30-2004, 07:44 AM Nice job so far, but... Bill (NOT Bil) First of all if this car was real the Carbon battery cover would be lined with silicon to keep out moisture and stop the carbon conducting. Secondly if you look at the pictures of the harness on the first page you would see that it is correctly fitted. Thanks for all the kind comments guys :icon16: SchuberT 07-30-2004, 05:36 PM hey dude, looking great... how does the dash look... did the glue clear up? bvia 07-30-2004, 09:08 PM First of all if this car was real the Carbon battery cover would be lined with silicon to keep out moisture and stop the carbon conducting. Thanks for all the kind comments guys :icon16: LOL...3M would love you for doing that... :grinyes: I did, on post #13...it looks reversed to what my SMS instruction sheet shows for their 1:24th seat belt...but like I stated..whadddoIknow?...I'm just a :loser: Again, a nice clean build! circuitR 07-30-2004, 10:52 PM Thanks Bill. RotaryX82003-The putty I use is Tamiya polyester putty and the standart Tamiya grey putty. ShuberT-No the clear glue did not clear up dammit! But you get that on the big jobs, thanks for asking. I will have more pics later this week as now all I have to do is finish prepping the body and begin painting. Thanks for the comments guys blueboost 07-31-2004, 05:12 PM I still think the guages look good :dunno: barely opaque almost fully translucent so that should be fine especially if your looking in through the windshield etc.. Everything looks great so far circuit. Keep it up! Mean_B16 07-31-2004, 07:40 PM Wow looks amazing so far!!! I can't wait to see more progress! Samurai75007 07-31-2004, 09:45 PM Sweet GT2, ceep up the good work... bvia 07-31-2004, 09:56 PM For crystal clear gauge faces use a 5 minute epoxy! hth, circuitR 08-11-2004, 08:40 PM Update time. Here's the car with some wheels. By the way the car in the background is my next project. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P17.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P16.jpg Hopefully tonight I will have a coat of white primer on. I gave it a coat of grey primer lastnight but I forgot to bring my memory card in today :loser: Bilson8tor 11-15-2004, 07:57 PM looking very nice, keep it up, hope to see it done soon Jaymes 11-15-2004, 10:31 PM looks great so far. What rims are those? blackf40 11-15-2004, 11:40 PM if i'm not mistaken, those rims come with the kit, correct? i like what you've done with the engine, and the rollcage color. hope the weather clears for you mike united 11-16-2004, 12:54 AM Awesome work !!! Mike :sunglasse primera man 11-16-2004, 03:28 AM Sweet so far. dragonstyle 11-16-2004, 04:03 AM loving it :) circuitR 11-16-2004, 03:40 PM Thanks for all the kind words guys, I know this project has dragged on. Damn work keeps getting in the way. Yes the wheels do come with the kit, they are 17 inch BBS. I pinched the original set for my soarer, so I had to order another set. I was a bit dubious about painting the cage red, but I'm glad that I have. It really stands out Here's the car with the grey primer. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P18.jpg And now the white primer http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P19.jpg Now that it is daylight savings here I can do some more painting at night. robrex 11-16-2004, 03:53 PM Nice work so far! blackf40 11-16-2004, 04:50 PM it looks like your fenders came out pretty smooth. i think that looks better than how the kit comes Turbo Monster 11-16-2004, 08:21 PM That looks like color place grey primer from wal-mart, if I'm not mistaken. Anywho, nice GT 2 I can't wait to get one! What kind of white primer do you use? I should also not forget to suggest a Tamiya Spray Work Paint Stand. I love mine! Idispesible! Get it finished soon! circuitR 11-17-2004, 04:08 PM I use tamiya primers and paints. We don't have Wallmart in New Zealand. And yes I do need to get a stand. One day, some day. Went racing lastnight so the first base coat will be tonight. circuitR 11-18-2004, 03:37 PM Alllrighty! Update time. Got the chassis and wheels on just to show off to you guys plus my new purchase, that's right Fujimi N1 alloy mufflers! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P20.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P21.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P22.jpg Dr.AK 11-18-2004, 03:52 PM Looks awesome :) Those mufflers are cool! Turbo Monster 11-18-2004, 04:32 PM On a different car, I might complain about those mufflers, but on this one, knowing how fast gt2's are, I won't. Cool Progress. Although I'd have to nitpick on how the mufflers don't come straight out, instead of at an angle. Make them come straight out, and it'd look better. IMO of course. Good Luck, and build it your way! ImolaEK 11-18-2004, 07:37 PM Hey how did you get your Fujimi mufflers to look soo good? Are those the Apexi N1 Mufflers which cost 450 Yen on HLJ? If so is that 450 Yen for only 1 muffler? or does it come with more than one muffler. The GT Wing and Muffler set comes with very different muffler which you have to rapaint since it has to be cut out of the tree! Did you paint them? If so what was used? Soo many questions, Edit: I just read the description from HLJ and saw that they are machined and polished:lol: :loser: But do they still come with only 1 muffler for 450 Yen! WeaPoN [X] 11-18-2004, 07:40 PM How did I miss this the first time...Sweet build so far. JeFF SpoonMan Dos 11-18-2004, 08:08 PM ']How did I miss this the first time...Sweet build so far. I'm with Jeff, I must have been asleep when this thread was started. Gteat progress thusfar. circuitR 11-19-2004, 01:58 AM Far out! question time! Ok the Fujimi mufflers are alloy, not plastic and they cost me $10NZD each. As for the angle they are on at the moment is because I have not glued them yet as this was a test fit. Also the turbos are mounted higher than the body. The original pipes are "S" shaped with a taper tip, in my opinion that's just wrong! Thanks for all the great comments and constructive criticisim, it's really gives me the drive to make this a kick ass Porsche, pity I have to give it away. At least it's to my best friend. Unfortunately my next post won't be till the end of next week as I am going away on buisness. I hope you can all wait that long. circuitR 12-21-2004, 04:18 PM Right! finally got some good weather and got the paint on. I have not compounded it yet as I've got to fix up the lines and the freakin' masking tape bleeded! DAMMIT. It's alright nothing a bit of sanding and compounding won't fix. Enjoy. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P23.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P24.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P25.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P26.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/P27.jpg I might finish this next year. weaponCIVIC 12-21-2004, 11:07 PM looking real good Jaymes 12-22-2004, 12:34 AM very very nice! I love it! hueb_s 12-22-2004, 08:19 AM Man, this paint bleeding happens to me too. A lot of careful sanding required to fix it... What masking tape and paint are you using? I go with Tamiya alcoholic acrylics and Tamiya masking tape.... tonioseven 12-22-2004, 08:52 AM Coming along quite well!!:sunglasse circuitR 12-22-2004, 04:08 PM Man, this paint bleeding happens to me too. A lot of careful sanding required to fix it... What masking tape and paint are you using? I go with Tamiya alcoholic acrylics and Tamiya masking tape.... I was using tamiya masking tape and tamiya spray cans. But this will be the last time for the cans as I have just brought a Tamiya compressor and gun so that will be fun. Thanks for the kind comments guys, this is my best work this year and I am learning heaps from my mistakes and from what I see on here. The cars coming from this site keep lifting the bar! I will keep you all updated through the holiday's, inbetween the drinking of course :smokin: circuitR 07-03-2005, 03:05 AM Well this project has taken nearly a year to build. I know that is a long time, but it's been a part time build as my lifestyle is pretty busy. here's a 1 pic update of where she is at, a few decals have been placed and hopefully tomorrow I will have printed out the company logo's of who I work for. Then all I gotta do is fit the rear tailight and spoiler and give her a wax, then she will be given to it's owner who has waited a year. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/911GT2/DSCF0041.jpg Not the best pic, but you will see final pics by this weekend (fingers crossed) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
