oldsmobile a/c trouble please helpsus77 07-11-2004, 09:32 AM help I have a 2000 oldsmobile intrigue and the a/c only works on high I have replaced the fan switch at the cost of 265.00 and still nothing i've also checked all the fuses and they are all still good does anyone have any idea what else this could be? Ruley73 07-11-2004, 07:42 PM Be more specific. Are you saying that the A/C only works when it is at it's coolest setting or that the blower only blows air when it is at the highest setting (regardless of temperature setting)?. If the latter is true, you have a bad blower motor resistor. They cost about $30 at an autoparts store and are usually fairly easy to install. sus77 07-11-2004, 10:10 PM ruley73, thanks for the insite,do you know where this blower motor resistor is located on the car. it does not matter wheather you have hot or cold air ,defrost or just the vent on it still only works on high again thanks so much for this information. thank you, sus77 rowle1jt 07-11-2004, 10:50 PM Yes, it does sound like the blower motor resistor. Relatively inexpensive and easy to fix. I can't give a 100% answer, but they are typically located on the firewall, with some portion of it being in the flow of air for the climate control system. I did the one on my truck not too long ago and that is where it was, I was having the exact same prob in the truck that you are describing and that fixed it. :) Jake Ruley73 07-12-2004, 12:06 PM On the Buick Regals of the same era (1997 and newer), the blower motor resistor is located near the blower motor. This would be just below the glove box. The Intrigue should have the same location of this part. You may need to remove the blower motor to get to it. This requires a 5.5mm or 7/32 socket (not too common) on a 1/4" drive ratchet to remove. There are three screws that hold the motor on. sus77 07-13-2004, 12:10 AM rowel1jt thanks so much we are going to try the resistor my husband is a diesel mechanic but hates to work on cars. we have almost given up on this car but thanks to this information mabey we wont have to put it in the shop. thank you, susan rowle1jt 07-13-2004, 09:46 AM Cool, good luck! Lets us know how it goes. :) Jake sus77 07-14-2004, 04:34 PM rowle1jt and ruley73 thanks so much for the advice the blower is now working great. sus77 07-16-2004, 08:05 PM hey guys this is susan again my blower has worked great until today and suddenly it decides it wont blow air out of any of the vents the fan is still blowing on all 5 speeds i can hear that much but you just can't feel much air coming out of vents what now? Intigue 07-23-2004, 04:04 AM Curious, what is the cost of one of these? Saw one on Ebay, he wants $27. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7912305047 jmlangeveld 07-23-2004, 12:23 PM hey guys this is susan again my blower has worked great until today and suddenly it decides it wont blow air out of any of the vents the fan is still blowing on all 5 speeds i can hear that much but you just can't feel much air coming out of vents what now? Did you Check the Cabin Air Filter? If the Fan is blowing and seems to be working fine, but you can't feel much air coming out of the vents, then it could be indicative of a clogged filter. There was a previous posting in this forum about how to change the Cabin Air Filter. They usually run about $15 and needs be replace about every 1-2 years. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
