Progress: Fujimi New Mini Cooperywwong 07-10-2004, 11:17 AM I have been wanting to get Revell Mini Cooper but it is not available in Hong Kong. Today, I got the Fujimi one. Not sure how good is it (probably sucks because of Fujimi) but oh well. It is the only way to build one. Just open the box today and gonna start it next week http://home.i-cable.com/jokiun/DSC02452.JPG http://home.i-cable.com/jokiun/DSC02454.JPG Tikiman 07-10-2004, 11:57 AM Sounds interesting. Especially as i am in the process of doing the Revell model. It is not a complicated model. Less than 100 peices i think. But i'm trying really hard to do a good paint job. Nearly finished it so i can post a pic if you like in a couple of days or tonight if i work really hard on it. Keep us posted! labandabonnot 07-10-2004, 11:58 AM Looking at the sprues, it looks better than the Revell one ( which sucks! so much shortcomings and bad molding... The worst kit I have! Even 20 years old Heller kit look better...) Your opinion on this build will be helpfull to many of us: is the quality of this kit worth the extra money spent compared to the cheap Revell Mini?... :D ywwong 07-10-2004, 12:05 PM I will keep you guys posted. One question though.. how much is the Revell kit? I got this Fujimi kit for about $US 16.7 ZoomZoomMX-5 07-10-2004, 12:15 PM I've built a couple of the Revell versions, they're simple and have a few flaws, but are easy to build and look good finished. I didn't spend much for mine, I think full retail was about $16.80; I saw one today at a Hobbytown and that was their price. I never paid more than $9 or $10 for mine, I think I got a pair at Hobby Lobby one time for about $13 during their half price sale. It wouldn't be hard for even Fujimi to improve upon. What pisses me off to no end is now we have another new Mini. So why the hell isn't either one a Cooper S???? :banghead: :banghead:  :disappoin The coolest Mini Cooper...and it's totally fucking ignored by the model manufacturers. Stupidstupidstupidstupidstupidstupid....oh well, I have one more Revell kit left and I might just have to make it myself. The Fujimi is RHD only. The Revell's window units are tricky to paint, the seat pattern is weird, and the chrome is garbage. But it was still bags of fun to build. :) Tikiman 07-10-2004, 05:19 PM Yeah the window is giving me no end of grief painting. I wish I had been able to buy the Fujimi instead, although i think that when finished (and built by a real pro builder) the Revell model might just have the edge, because of the windows. I don't think i will buy another skill level 3 Revell kit again. Not enough detail. Can you other guys that made one post a picture? Vric 07-10-2004, 05:38 PM well, The Revell one sux so the Fujimi might be better :D I will look for this one Ferrari TR 07-10-2004, 08:12 PM I'll take some pix of my completed Mini later. I thought the Revell kit was OK. There has been roumors that Rev was going to modify the kit into an "S". Fujimi may well make an S or a cabiro in the future. Oh...MCG has a PE set out now. I guess I'll get my S back to my S conversion! :p Mini Grape http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/73480grape_mini.jpg ZoomZoomMX-5 07-10-2004, 08:46 PM Here are my Revell Mini Coopers: http://images1.fotki.com/v6/photos/1/10258/17860/MiniStripes1-vi.jpg http://images1.fotki.com/v6/photos/1/10258/17860/Mini2-vi.jpg This one has ITR rims on it. This one is inspired by a buildup of an old Tamiya Gulf Mini by Po9r1s1che (which I bought from him later!): http://images1.fotki.com/v7/photos/1/10258/17860/Dscn3068-vi.jpg http://images1.fotki.com/v6/photos/1/10258/17860/Dscn3066-vi.jpg ywwong 07-10-2004, 10:54 PM ZoomZoomMX-5 they look so nice.. especially the one with Integra rims.!! Turbo Monster 07-10-2004, 10:59 PM only complaint is, somebody forgot to put the mini stickers on ALL of the wheels......of the burgundy one. Awesome job none the less. *wonder's if mini's can roll 20's..* ZoomZoomMX-5 07-10-2004, 11:06 PM only complaint is, somebody forgot to put the mini stickers on ALL of the wheels......of the burgundy one. Awesome job none the less. *wonder's if mini's can roll 20's..* 20's would be absofuckinghideous on a Mini. :icon16: I didn't forget anything, that picture was taken before it was finished. :) Turbo Monster 07-10-2004, 11:28 PM ok just checkin. but 18's do look badass! Its quality compares to Tamiya's! http://home.i-cable.com/jokiun/DSC02455.JPG Mikke 07-12-2004, 04:24 AM I have that same kit, and I too was really surprised by the quality of it. I didn't expect much from Fujimi, but it really seems they've done something right for a change. And it even has door panel detail, which is quite rare for a Fujimi kit AFAIK. ol' dude 07-12-2004, 09:06 AM Looks to very cool, keep us posted on the progress!!!!!! tsuchiya 07-12-2004, 10:22 AM I must keep my eyes on this progress!cool!
