93 buick lesabre serpentine beltfsspear 07-10-2004, 04:55 AM exactly how do i relieve the tension on my 93 buick lesabre serpentine belt to replace the alternator? quaddriver 07-10-2004, 11:14 AM exactly how do i relieve the tension on my 93 buick lesabre serpentine belt to replace the alternator? you dont need the special tool for this car, just use a 3/8" drive breaker bar and insert into the 'square' on the tensioning arm. 2 minute job tops. MagicRat 07-11-2004, 10:48 PM If you don't have a 'square' on the arm, you can use a socket to rotate the bolt that holds the idler pully to the adjuster arm. This will rotate the entire arm, and relieve the slack on the belt. quaddriver 07-11-2004, 10:53 PM ahh thats true, the cars without cramps front end quarters will put a bolt up there for you torquing pleasure. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
