i am shopping for a car and have narrowed it down to a 1996 corolla, camry, or nissan maxima (all which have around 70k miles, automatic transmission)

my main criteria is reliability, anyone have any opinions/experience with any of these cars and how they compare in terms of reliability? which care will get me the most miles with the least repair work and costs in the long run? the books say corolla and camry with maxima a little behind, but i was interested in soliciting more personal experience opinions.

thanks

You are more likely to get good information from a mechanic that checks out each of these cars than by what others' experiences are. There is more car-to-car differences in these vehicles (because of how the owner took care of them) than there is model-to-model or brand-to-brand differences. Go by what is in each car, rather than by what other people say anecdotally.

A well-kept Maxima is a much better buy than a Camry whose owner never changed the oil, and vice versa. If everything is a tie, get the Camry. :)
