Hi again

My 97 528i BMW burns oil in small rate and I feel that the engine is not as strong is it used to be. What do you think I should do?

Hi,
It 230K kilometers on it :(
And I am VERY careful with the oil change. I change it every 5000 kilometers where I should change it every 9000 kilometer. But since the yellow oil light in the dash board turns on, I directly go to the mechanic who suggests adding some oil but I do not agree and I change it. I do not know what does Insp. II consist of?

One more question then,
How oftem, in kilometers, do you need to add 1 quart?

An inspection II is a Major Service where all the filters, sparkplugs and fluids are replaced and includes a complete vehicle inspection.

First of all, let me thank you for taking the time to look up my problem. To answer your question, I need to add 1 quart every almost 4000 kilometer. How bad is it? Tell me I can take it…..

Sorry,
Regarding the inspection II bit, I have done it almost 8000 kilometers ago. When do you think I should do it again?

not bad actually, in the US, oil consumption is considered getting high @ 1qt./1,000 miles.....your @ 1qt./2,500 miles, a little excessive but i wouldn't be concerned at present. just keep changing your oil every 5k as you have, you might try a slightly higher viscosity. what wieght oil do you currently use?
p.s....Insp II service for your car is every 60,000 miles [90,000 kilometers?]...........................jb.
